However, I think we can agree that the general public (both in the real world and in the stories) would consider Gandalf a wizard. Wizard, as a noun, means a man who has magical powers, esp. in legends and fairy tales. (Copied from Google.) Gandalf falls under the classification even if he is something more. And that's the nerdiest conversation I'll have all week.
