Fate of the Jedi 1: Outcast by Aaron Allston

Will it be a series or a trilogy?

What era will it be set in?

Is Aaron Allston a good choice?

Does the title refer to Fate of the Jedi # 1 (as in first of the series) or Fate of the "Jedi One" (as in a ship or some other title)

I'm going to say it's the first in a series. As for era, I'd say post-Legacy but pre-Legacy-comics.

And Aaron Allston is always a good choice. I hope they let him do the whole series or at least keep it to a small tight nit group, maybe just two authors tackling a short time period.

As for the name "Fate of the Jedi," I'm thinking that has to do with what will the Jedi do next. Daala's in charge and the Jedi aren't wanted in government, and with no wars to deal with, they've got a lot of free time on their hands for a change. Thus they seal their fate with helping the Vong. Cue Krayt for the dismal downfall.

I'd certainly like to see a Post-MF book that specifically deals with tying up the loose ends of LotF. Let's find out what happens to the Jedi Order as a whole, exploring smaller characters within it. And, being that Allston is the author, let's find out about Antilles, Celchu and Rogue Squadron.

I'd also like to see a YJK-esque books setting up a new generation and group of characters for the future. LotF and NJO have killed off a number of minor characters and I think it's time to replenish the list. :D

I'm pretty indifferent towards post-LotF books. If they would have just Jacen live, I would be looking forward to this. Now... the aforementioned indifference.

This is probably another multi-author and long running series. Epic darkness and brutal deaths painted on a galactic canvas, yet with the same planets once again. Plus bridge building towards Legacy like there wouldn't be over 80 years still left between.

I hope that Reaves' Coruscant trilogy does well and it makes DR more open to do shorter, single author series. But like I wrote, I don't expect FotJ to be such.

I will be really looking forward to Fate of the Jedi, as I'm very curious to see what happens to the Jedi now that their latest conflict has been fairly resolved, not to mention the fact that a certain author left the poor galaxy in a choppy shambles. So seeing how life in general is going with our beloved characters would be nice. I'm not sure if I care whether it's a trilogy or something longer, but I would like Allston to be the sole writer. I just get too confused when you've got so many writing styles going on. Although if all the authors can do a good job. *shrugs* Will have to wait and see, I suppose.

Oh, don't be so harsh. Denning has done good books and okay books. The last one was just a real change up.

But with the Fate of the Jedi, I'm thinking we won't be able to see too much of Wedge. But maybe Corran can step in.

You're right, you're right. I've very much enjoyed many of Denning's books. I suppose I just felt like bashing as he was my least favorite author for LotF. *shrugs* I just really enjoy Allston and Traviss.

I don't know about Corran, but I do expect Allston to use Valin if he can. And hopefully "his" - I count Valin among them, as adult Valin is his creation - other surviving young Jedi from LotF.

I forgot about Valin, he'd probably be a better character than Corran since he's young and so far undeveloped. Definitely time for a new generation to sprout up. In fact Lowbacca should be his master.

I expect to see Syal Antilles (just because of the whole X-Wing thing) in the series, and would welcome Valin in there as well.

I'm guessing ( Since Aaron Allston is writing it), we should see more Seha finally. I don't think it'll be a long series with brutal deaths, mainly because how many more can there be? If they killed off Jaina anytime soon it would be a big mistake, because other than Ben she would be the only Skywalker descent other than the original heroes and there time is coming.

Personally I do expect that Jaina gets killed soon. Sad

You know guys, people do die eventually. I don't want to see anyone, espescially Jaina, go but sometimes deaths are needed to move the plot forward. I don't see the need, as of right now, for her death. The authors haven't gone kill-crazy, you know; they didn't do it just to kill characters off.

Well, I kind of think they have gone kill crazy, and the fact that Rostoni says that they aren't yet ready to give us more happy stories, but are sticking with darker ones is rather ominous in my opinion. But that's something that FotJ will answer. Personally I expect that if it will be another long series, there will be major death or deaths. And Jaina looks like the easiest to sacrifice among the main characters - after she has had few kids. But, perhaps they will choose a different path this time.
