In the ongoing war between Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble, the latest battle is over DC Comics. With the release of the Kindle Fire, several DC Comics graphic novels were available exclusively to the new device. In retaliation, B&N has dropped those graphic novels from their store shelves. As of the moment it's uncertain how long either issue will last.

Ah, what fun times we live in.

We don't have Barnes and Noble in Canada but I support bookstores all the way. I have an Amazon account but I try to only use it for the things I can't get anywhere else. Or, I'll admit, expensive things that I don't want to pay full price for.

Actually whenever I go to a book store I feel obligated to buy something. Razz

I think it's interesting how the two are vying against each other for exclusive deals, and in retaliation they drop products. Another example, B&N is offering a huge discount on pre-orders for Star Wars: The Complete Vader today, severely undercutting Amazon. In fact B&N is making some pretty big moves there to out promote Amazon to increase sales. Rather nifty tactic.

If Amazon or B&N wants to offer crazy deals to promote themselves, then I'm all for it. But if companies (such as DC) start exclusively offering products to one of the two, that's more than a little annoying. I agree with B&N for getting grumpy. Maybe I'm just being selfish, but that seems wrong.
