Second, and for the same reason. A space station has been grown and no one, no one, thinks inmediatly in the yuuzhan vong? Why are they so surprise when they see it?

And third, the walking dead. All these things seems so unbelievable to me.

I actually got the impression that the way the Umbaran's were doing that was more akin to an obscure Force power. I thought might actually be related to Stover's creation of the Dark and the Rhand Sorcerers. The Umbarans were drawing the Force into a whole, thus cutting off other users. This is different from how ysalamiri create their Force bubble. It's more like a black hole sucking up the Force. I guess Kemp could have had Jaden mention ysalamiri, but it's not something I thought about when reading the book.

The station was a smooth, green structure. All the big ships the Vong used were made of coral and looked like asteroids. Again, Kemp could have mentioned it, but I thought the asteroid field made of debris already had them thinking Celestials and Rakatans, so it made sense.

The walking dead thing was certainly nothing new. The Sith had Korriban zombies, and one Sith Lord even kept himself animated after death. Plus Schreiber has written two Star Wars zombie books. My gripe was that the mummies didn't get a bit more description and fight time. They're part was very very minor.

Jaden really know nothing about the Umbaran's power. All he has is a description of what Khedryn thinks. Isn't odd he didn't associate it with something he should know?

The same about the station. They all seem surprised to see something that have been grown more than built. And the doesn't make a mental associacion between what they see and the Vong War. Considering all of them have lived that war, it's kind of odd they don't think about it.

And the zombies... Well, I wouldn't have had any trouble if they would have represented a bigger threat, a bigger obstacle.

Actually, this is nothing new. There is a crystal in KOTOR II which changes colour depending on your character's light side/dark side orientation. However, I thought that was a very rare crystal, not the norm. I'm guessing that, since they made them themselves, such a link between them and the crystals would be intrinsic.

I asked Paul Kemp via twitter if the Umbarans had an incestuous relationship. He confirmed it.
