But seriously, who do you think the culprit might be? An old relative of Jabba's? An Imp? A rival bounty hunter?

I kind of hope they bring back Dengar, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM.

Bossk?

He and Bossk had a huge rivalry in the Bounty Hunter Trilogy so that makes sense. I suggest a different option: Han Solo.

Han beat Bossk up in the NJO. I'm guessing that Fett isn't killed by an existing character. I think the story is going to be more about Fett's granddaughter (or great-grandson/daughter?) hunting down his killer than it is about who killed him. Or maybe even Sintas and Mirta.

That's an interesting theory! Do you explaining your reasoning in more depth? Smile

@Life: I like the other three better. Besides, Dengar was sort of friends with Fett (the whole wedding thing) and 4-LOM and Zuckuss were an interesting team. Bossk was a loner. Plus he was always characterized as the dumb brute sort of person.

From io9, writer Tom Taylor gives a summary of the miniseries:

Quote:
Boba Fett is dead. The most infamous hunter in the galaxy has been hunted. He's lying, broken, on the desert floor. He's more blaster-holes than man. It's the ultimate ending. However, this is just the start of our story. With the fall of Fett broadcast across the galaxy, someone rises to avenge him. But who would care about the death of a man like Fett? Bounty hunters aren't exactly known for their enduring, close friendships but even a man like Boba Fett has family... and now a Blood Tie demands blood.

Any guesses on who the avenger is?

EDIT: Since Darth Vader and stormtroopers are on Boba Fett is Dead #3 cover, I'm gonna assume that this in set between ANH and ROTJ. If Boba Fett is really, really dead then, that's gonna really, really frak with continuity....so I think he's alive. He's pulling a Conviction-style fake out. He'll avenge his own death.

Looking at the video again, those stormtroopers have blue on their armor...clone troopers then but the helmet isn't right....hmmm....

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Stormtrooper_commander

We've seen that stormtrooper armor coloring as recently as 2 BBY.

I'm not sure what the "Blood Tie" is if Fett's "death" takes place in 2 BBY, or proximate to that, though.

It's possible that Fett does die 42+ ABY and there are flashbacks featuring Fett c. 2 BBY, but he's otherwise dead in the present.

It would be the same situation with Jango Fett being dead in Boba Fett's side of the original Blood Ties but it still depicting Jango alive in the flashbacks.

Well, that's a bit of a disappointment. Took all the fun out of it. I was quite looking forward to seeing some 'modern' era comics, rather than old era ones.

Maybe "Boba Fett is dead" is just a figure of speech, like "disco is dead".

Boba Fett isn't my favorite character (Jacen Solo FTW!) but I wonder if Lucas will ever actually kill him. Boba's certainly not important as the Big Three, but he did appear in the films and television shows, and has a loyal fanbase. Every time we thought he was dead, he keeps getting back up.

Me too. I'm hoping Crash's idea plays out.

Well of course!

Taylor is getting back to the root of what makes Boba Fett so cool. He's so cool that he can even survive death.
