George Lucas is trolling Star Wars fans at this point.

Well I saw a picture of George wearing a "Han shot first tee shirt." Dose that make it G-canon.

Laughing Yes. Yes, it does.

Anakin could've been a much better character, to be honest, GL ruined him forever.

I thought it was interesting in The Complete Vader when Hayden complained to George that he didn't want to play a whiny Anakin. George told him tough, cause that's just what you're going to do. Wish George would have listened to Hayden. Sad

Am I the only fan who actually likes the whiny Vader? Seems totally realistic teenager to me. Besides it links to whiny Luke which I've always liked a lot. So typical.

I love that Luke inherited Anakin's whiny gene. lol

I think it's realistic, as well. Of course, I am a staunch Anakin fan.

When was he a teenager? He hit 20 right before AotC and that was more around the age most kids start to come into there own and by the time of RotS he was like 23 or 24 ish, an adult by that time with a baby on the way. It wasn't very realistic to me.

I thought so, too. But some guys are just whiny like that. Especially ones like Anakin who are told they're special from a young age. However...! I do wish he had been a little less whiny. It really hurts the Darth Vader persona. Although...I don't know that that's a terrible thing. I can sometimes see the OT in a new and more interesting light when I consider the pitiful creature behind the mask. *ponders*

I went with the novel. It said he had just turned 20. In the movie its never referenced.

It looks like Shmi is kidnapped by the Tuskens on his 20th birthday (or possibly shortly after)

This adds fuel to the idea that it was engineered.

I personally look at it from the viewpoint of what would happen if you take a nine year old child from his mother, introduce him to an entirely new environment and lifestyle, tell him to conform and also that, hey btw, you have to save everybody, you'll get who Anakin turned out to be.

Anakin was born in 41 BBY. The Clone Wars started in 22 BBY. Anakin was 19, same age as Luke in ANH. They were both whiny at 19. LOL

I didn't find him whiny in ROTS. Just angsty.

The way Hayden portrayed him was whiny...
