Anakin Skywalker

I loved Anakin in RotS. Before that I never particularly cared for him. I didn't dislike him but I was always an Obi-Wan man before RotS.

I'm starting to like Anakin, and I think that's mainly down to TCW. Sure, sometimes they go a bit too far with him being happy-go-lucky, but his character is almost perfectly balanced, that I can picture him as Vader.

Does anyone remember that incredibly whiny, nasal voice he had in the Genndy series? Confused

Now that is just my problem with TCW Anakin. Why would a perfectly balanced guy turn to the dark side?
The Anakin from the Genndy series at least stayed much closer to the Anakin we see in the prequels than the Anakin we see in TCW now. This Ani seems so different at times that you'd almost think he was an alternate universe version Smile

One of the main reasons stated for TCW was to showcase Anakin as a Jedi Knight; not the guy who was turning to the dark side in ROTS. Personally, I like seeing this side of Anakin, and I think it's appropriate given that Vader reverted to Anakin to save Luke. There was still that Jedi Knight to revert to somewhere inside him.

My liking Anakin as a Jedi Knight probably has a lot to do with reading the Jedi Quest series. If I have one fault to find with Jude Watson is that she dwelt too much on the angsty side of both Obi-Wan and Anakin so I got my fill of Anakin angst. The series would have been better with a more balanced Anakin. Although she did a great job with showing why Obi-Wan and Anakin were so close.

Anakin is supposed to be balanced the same way that Luke is, because it's supposed to be believable that Luke could conceivably turn to the dark side in Return of the Jedi. It's one of the reasons why I wish Lucas didn't structure the prequels around Anakin so much, because I didn't think it was necessary.

The PT is the story of Anakin Skywalker's fall. It would be hard to not structure the PT around Anakin. I don't have an issue with it.

And I liked AotC Obi-Wan. He was better than AotC Anakin anyway.

But, really, I like both TPM and RotS Obi-Wan, but just found him to be patronizing and annoying in AotC. And lest people start thinking of AotC Anakin is my favorite or anything, I like him much better in RotS. Well, y'know. Until the whole dark side thing.
