Ok we have had Book series set in the Legacy era but how about a 9 book series set in the OR times?

With thousands of years to pick from there could be a great series based on the sith and jedi of that era. They wouldnt overly impact on the movies as it would be so far back and would be a very interesting period to cover.

Have Aaron allston, Drew and James Luceno do the series. Could be really great.

What do you guys think?

Del Rey has said they aren't doing any more 9 book, 3 author series. However, I'd love to see a series of books based on TOR.

Given that the game is launching Dec. 20 though, idk how soon we'd see a series. They're not going to write a bunch of books that give away the ending, and kill off the game.

How many years are being covered in TOR game?

The books wouldnt have to cover the game. Although some people may think theres a connection. Theres thousands of years to cover.

Pity there will be no more 9 books arcs from them.

I wouldn't want a nine book series, but I would like more books set in that era. There is a lot of time to play around in - but I admit that it may be tricky. If they write a book that covers a large time span (as if they do a history of the New Sith Wars), then that could potentially kill off certain stories set within that time span, or at least make a big headache with retcons. But that's only a minor worry.

A trilogy might be good covering a small period of TOR.

Say the final days of THe Golden Age Of The Sith.

The writer could create new Sith, new Jedi and a smuggler or two. Revisit classic planets like Tatooine, Coruscant and maybe Bespin before it became a Tibanna Gas mining facility.

Or seeing Nar Shadaa before the Hutts arrived.

Id write it myself if I could. Laughing

Actually Del Rey was going to write a nine-book series placed in the Old Republic Era (well, technically the Sith Era back then) but it was replaced by Legacy of the Force.

I don't want a Legacy Era nine-book series for a good while, but I wouldn't mind one in a different era.

We already know the ending to TOR.

Good guys win, bad guys lose.

It's the story of Star Wars. Rinse and repeat.

Though this is a "for now" statement. And when they said it they factor NJO into that even though it was really a large series comprised of Stand Alones, Doulogies and Trilogies, it wasn't till the 2 9 book series came that that they started to pull back. (which IMO was a double factor- No one liked paying full price for 9 hardcovers and many more disliked what happened to Jacen- those factors deemed the 9 Book design a fail) But there is something to be said for the OVER ALL Plot and layout of the NJO. I would love to see them do something similar in a totally new or relatively new era like the TOR sub era!

I hope Del rey do some trilogies based in the TOR era but are linked together but not a nine book series, If that makes sense. I just think there is a lot of potential for some great stories from this era.

^ In that case no one wins. Not really. The other side will always come back.
