I always found Daala's declaration that she achieved her station through talent and not through sleeping her way there, despite the fact that she was sleeping with Tarkin and her complete lack of any sort of success ever and general incompetence, to be highly ironic and insulting to the reader on KJA's part. Show, don't tell? I suppose that's par for the course with regard to Caedus in LOTF though, so it's not surprising that is where Daala was brought in.

I definitley want to see Daala do some damage with Fett before she dies but I do think her time should be coming soon.

Maybe Fett will off her now that she can't give him the cure?

I'm not sure how I feel about the transformation Vestara undertook after killing her father. I feel okay with everything for the most part, but I think the bit about wanting to become a Jedi specifically is a bit too much.

..and then we have her killing Natua..

Now I have the feeling that they're really setting her up to be killed in Apocalypse (a sacrifice to save Ben).

The only out I think she has is to talk to Luke about it and pray he doesn't ban her from seeing Ben... what do you all think? If she doesn't get it out.. it's going to self-destruct her (hence my reasoning towards her plausible death).

I'm a very easy to please reader.. I've loved every Star Wars book I've ever read. I really enjoyed this one and at the end I was left cursing the state of affairs.. just HOW will things get fixed in book 9?

I'm still a little on the fence as to how I want Vestara to end up. If she does have a change of heart, then I think it would be difficult for Luke to forgive her so easily. Certainly, she'd have to pay for her actions, and she'd probably be under house arrest, or have an overseer for a long while, but it is a possibility.

I REALLY think Vestara is in an unique position, and a good plot device to give Ben the ability to do things on his own. Mara/Luke -> Ben/Vestara.

I'd really like her to exist beyond this series, and see her struggles trying to balance Sith/Jedi.

..but dang if killing Natua just isn't a HUGE block to that.

However, there IS some precedence (sort of)... Saba/Kenth and Tahiri/Pellaeon so we'll see..

I really think she should tell Luke.

I'm betting that not in a million years is Vestara going to confess to Luke that she killed on of his Jedi Knights (unless she goes all braggy arrogant Sith). Luke's reaction? Well, he's not going to forgive her. There's no comparison between this and Saba and Kenth. Let's remember that Kenth was trying to kill Saba while she was just trying to prevent him from stopping the launch. Kenth had gone dark -- although that's Denning's doing and Golden pretty much retconned that in Ascension.

To an extent I agree, BUT, the important aspect of something like this would be continuation of the series, both for ourselves and a younger generation coming in.

WE grew up with Luke/Mara and Han/Leia, but others haven't. They can grow up with Ben/Vestara and Jaina/Jag, and also Allana.

Plus, while Luke/Han/Leia can't be killed, there's going to come a point where they're just too old for 'current' adventures.

Besides, it's time to put an end to the True Teenage Love stories. We've had Jaina/Jag, Tahiri/Anakin and Jacen/Tenel Ka. Do we really need to continue the unreality of everlasting teenage love with Ben and Vestara? Enough already.
