Luke was never a weenie. He has always been and always will be awesome.

He was like a stroppy four year old in Episode V.

In IV he was working out what was going on in the galaxy, but quite confident about being chosen for this. So he was happy. Cool.

In Episode V he had already saved the galaxy once, and thought he was the Man because he had the Force and all that and was (kind of) on top of a legion of rebels. Still happy albeit a little bit smug. But when he meets Yoda and realises he isn't the only Force user in the galaxy and there is, in fact, some one wiser and better than him at using the Force, he gives up (X-Wing, swamp etc). Bratty teen who's realised he isn't the only one in school who can play the lute.

In VI he had grown up. Less of a weenie.

It's only really Episode V that he's a weenie.

I wish we could get something official from Lucasfilm about this. Its probably unlikely.

But, like most things in Star Wars, it can be blamed on the Force. Why did the Stormtroopers ALWAYS miss (except for one time on Endor)? Because of the Force.

But this one actually makes sense; he Leia shares any of the attachment issues of her father, even the few moments she spent with Padme could have forged a Force connection strong enough for Leia to remember her. But Leia describes her mum as happy and stuff, and Padme was anything but in the time when Leia was with her which doesn't make sense.

Actually she was described as beautiful but sad. It still doesnt explain things though. Luke has no recollection because he was only minutes old like Leia. Its the one area of continuity that bugs me no end.

Oh yeah, that's right... I don't really say that much attention to RotJ after they leave Tatooine.

I'd like to point out that if you see me say "he" or "of" and it seems really out of context, it's because of my predictive text. "He" would be "if" and "of" would be "me" and visa versa.

Laughing Apparently, that flap triggers Jaina's OCD because up until the last 20 minutes of the movie, it's fastened up all neat. Then it comes undone and drives her insane.
