In TUF Luke explained to Jacen why Vergere's belief was wrong and Jacen was set up by NJO to be the hero. It's Denning who retconned Jacen beginning with DNT.

I've given up hope that any more light will be shed on Jacen, but it would be nice for a few things to be tied up.

I actually think the Abeloth thing has a lot to do with Jacen and they're saving some big reveal for Apocalypse. They've been decent in this series and I think they're hoping this whole thing makes up for Jacen's poorly handled fall.

I'm hoping for this as well. I've certainly haven't cared for how they've had Luke et al brush off Jacen's fall with "it was inevitable."

Yeah I hope for something. Or barring that I'm back to wanting the 5 year tale- pehaps we learn Jacen teamed up with another Force User- and we learn this individual's identity in that book. But to me it just seems like by leaving it alone it adds to the WASTE that is Jacen's fate.

Didn't Abeloth say in Vortex that she wants to put the Dark Man back on throne? If so, that would essentially reboot things to DNT.

Wasn't it LOTF where the Dark Man visions first appeared (discounting Tatooine Ghost because that Dark Man isn't this Dark Man)? Anyway that was a Denning concoction so it's no surprise he'd stick that in Vortex. I wouldn't count on it happening though.

I remember in the last book (I think that was Ascension, but I don't remember.) that had Luke offer an explanation, as Cerrinea says, that it was inevitable, as he turned to prevent the Dark Man prophecy from coming true, and save Allana. That's all, I believe, the last book had to say on the matter, and it amounted to about one paragraph.

I was severely disappointed. It, for me, just wasn't a strong enough reason. Indeed, I found it incredibly weak. I'm hoping, too, that it'll be expanded upon in Apocalypse, since it has Killiks in it, and I'm hoping that they'll manage to provide a better reason, but I do worry that they won't, because that paragraph sounded like it was the summary paragraph - a little note to say this storyline has been concluded, here's the explanation, and we won't hear any more on the matter from this point on.

In simple terms I believe Jacen realised the Jedi way would not bring order to the galaxy and to do so would need to take matters into his own hands and become a Dark Lord to save it.

Not too dissimilar to his grandfather who believed the only way to save Padme was to learn the ways of the dark side.

Its a simple explanation. I dont think we are going to get a proper explanation. At least not a sufficient one

Honestly the Del Rey staff have admitted to this series being a clean up for past mistakes. Involving Killiks in this next book just makes me think that they're still cleaning. It'll work out but This whole ordeal since the end of NJO has just been hard as they've been mostly 'eh' with their main story while things like Bane and Knight Errant and Riptide have been better. After this they need to kill the big 3, and I say that with a lot of pain and sadness but they've damaged many characters beyond repair. I mean Jacen's dead and they did it simply to try something that ultimately failed. Ugh.

They don't need to kill the Big Three; just turn them into "elder statesmen" and let the younger generation have their adventures. First thing, though, they need to fix the younger generation. Jaina can't do it all by herself. Besides, with the way Jaina's been handled (badly) they need to pump her up in a good way. That's part of the repair work Del Rey needs to do.

Im wondering will we get a story were the big three do die. Will we see Luke becoming one with the force as he is a force spirit in Legacy.

Will we see Han pass away after doing one more deed or Leia?

Or are Del Rey not allowed to show these deaths? Will they just jump ahead in the timeline? And what about Ben, Jaina, Jag etc?

Id like a book series focused on Cade Skywalker in addition to the graphic novels we got.

Or a series of books set after these novels.

I think they are running out of stories for the big three. They have done everything. Thats why the focus has to be on new characters.

The Big 3 will not die until George Lucas gives the go-ahead. Which could be forever.

It could be Palpatine Abeloth is talking about also. After all he was dark and on the throne for a time.

So do you guys think it was inevitable that Jacen turned to the darkside?

The premise initially of the series was that Luke and Ben went on a journey to find out why? Do you think thats kinda been forgotten? Will we find out?

Was it because it was the only way to save the galaxy? A point hammered home time and again in the BOTF series?

Or something else?
