Oops, sorry.... Embarassed

So what will the novel be, exactly? Will it be different than the game, or the same, just in book form? I think it would be kind of pointless to just write down the story of the game....

It is going to be the story during and after the events of the game; the comic tells the events before the game, and the game tells the main plot of the Secret Apprentice. If you remember the SOTE Mass Medi Project in the 90's, you'll remember how each part played a different role.

Quote from TOS' First Look:

The official The Force Unleashed novel by author Sean Williams (based on the story by Haden Blackman) will cover the events of the game, providing the one true "canon" path of events that affect the Star Wars saga. The hardcover novel comes out from Del Rey Books next year around the time of the video game release. Here's a first look at its cover, featuring art by Petrol Advertising in conjunction with LucasArts.

The Shadows book covered the entire game, and I enjoyed it a lot better than the game (no pointless boss battles).

The sneak peek at the TPB looks so great! It's got me so excited for the book, I just don't know what to do with myself. Very Happy

Now I know his name! And I really like it, too. I'm really glad it wasn't Starkiller. I mean...not that I have anything against that name, but...it seems so cliché! I do like it being his 'code name', though.

I'm so excited! Very Happy

Indeed. It seems the novel will cover before events and during and give the canon end, the TPB will recollect the events up to the canon end of the game via Proxy, and the game will be the events. I love how it's working out.

Okay, so I'm browsing Amazon and begin toying with the idea of pre-ordering The Force Unleashed novel. First I see it's available in paperback (Yay!), then, to my dismay, I see a $10.85 price tag (that's with 32% discount)...which is odd because most Star Wars paperbacks are $7.99. But here's the kicker...104 PAGES! Shocked

What is this?

Please tell me this is a typo. I mean 104 pages? That's not even a novel, that's a short story. I'm really thinking this HAS to be a typo because the hardcover version says 336 pages. If it's not, then there's something utterly ridiculous about this because the Prima's STRATEGY GUIDE has more pages than the NOVEL!

I am now seriously distressed... Sad

Ah, Skuldren, I believe you are looking at this:

If so, here's the problem: It's a graphic novel, for one, and the size of the book is 9.6 x 6.4 x 0.3 inches. As opposed to a regular sized paperback which is 6.7 x 4.2 x 0.9 inches . I would assume this would account for the smaller page count. Plus, this says it's a graphic novel, making me think this is the TPB. I don't see it (the TPB) on the list on Amazon otherwise. So I suppose the actual book-book is only in hardback for the time being. Hmm...hope that makes some sense and isn't just more confusing to you! Smile

I believe that graphic novel is the one slated to come with TFU video game when you pre-order with Lucasarts Store, but I could be wrong...

A Graphic Novel. Silly me.

At least everything makes sense again. They really are pushing these hardcovers though...

So, The Official Site gave us a sneak peek at chapter one, and, being the horrible EU fan I am, took a peek. Below you can read it, but it's spoiler-filled. I will say this, however: everything they are showing us is basically one scene at the start of the game between Vader and the Apprentice, and reading it, playing it, and seeing it in a comic plus reading it will be very interesting.

Hmmm...this is chapter one of the book-book? I read the first line and then stopped myself. I'm afraid to go on! Besides...the book should be here in the next couple days. Suppose I should just wait. *sigh* Oh the torture of it all!
