I have a question. Do you have to play KOTOR 2 to enjoy the book? I just finished KOTOR and want to read this, but I don't know if it ties in a lot with KOTOR 2.

If you want to do it 'properly', read up to chapter 17 (I think that's where the beginning of part 2 is), then play KOTOR2, then read part 2 of the book Smile

I haven't actually played either Kotor or Kotor 2 and I really liked the book. So I'd say playing the game is not essential.

You could also just read Wookie.

I'm hoping to get this book for Christmas, and can't wait to start it very soon thereafter. If I don't...I'm sure I'll cave and purchase it myself. Looking forward to it. Although with the amount of books I have to read over break...I'm sure some are going to lose out. We shall see.

So far Im finding Revan is as much about Scourge as Revan himself. Not thats a bad thing. He is a great character

Finished Revan. I wasn't impressed with it at first, but it slowly grew on me. The ending was unconventional and unexpected. At times the prose was too exposition-heavy - I say this as person who has never played KotoR - but it helped me figure out where the story fit in TOR timeline.

Now that I'm invested in TOR, I have to ask if this is a novel I should read for information about the Sith Empire and its emperor, with the caveat that I am not a fan of Karpyshyn's writing at all. I mean, I read Path of Destruction and Rule of Two, but I guess Dynasty of Evil is where I marked the line because I never finished it.

You probably wouldn't like it, then. I think DOE is the stronger book.

I agree, you wouldn't like it if you can't finish a Karpyshyn book.

You get to know about the Empire/Emperor in the book, but since you are a TOR player, you will probably get the same info (plus more) from the game.

I'm not a fan of Karpyshyn's writing but I've read the Bane Trilogy and Revan and Revan is by far my favorite.
