I just found an article on Star Wars, but didn't have anywhere to put it, so I'm making this.

10 Minor Star Wars Characters with Completely Unnecessary Backstories

Thoughts?

Personally, I disagree. Not in an angry trololololol way, but I just feel like they didn't need backstories, but they have them anyway, and we like them (some of us). So, I suppose I do agree actually, they are unnecessary, but it doesn't matter.

(I get a dishonourable mention at No. 5 Wink )

---

Anyway, for this thread just post any good Star Wars articles you see around the web. I tend to like the outside-looking-in ones; people who don't get the EU writing an article about it.

I kinda agree with the article. Not every character needs a backstory. Though, I do like the one about the Rancor Keeper. I've always like him.

Well, the Star Wars fan in me says every character is entitled to a backstory. It's not to say that it's a crime that such and such character doesn't have one, but if someone wants to write the backstory for a character, I'm all for it. The more stories, the better. As long as it's well done, I have no complaints.

Course will all things, it should be done in moderation. If all the sudden they did a hundred backstories for obscure characters, that would be overdoing it. If they're spread out over a length of time, it works better.

I agree with you there Skuldren, but do have one complaint about some of these backstories.
I mean minor characters getting backstories are not a problem to me, but tying in every backstory to the plot of the movies is just kind of silly.
Now it sometimes seems like every random person you see in a OT scene is preforming a role critical to the survival of either the Rebellion or the Empire, something that just doesn't seem very probable to me.

Haha, that's true. Personally, I think it's kind of amusing. But agreed, eventually it's going to get annoying. Probably already has somewhere. Still, though...rather humorous. Wink

You're right, it is also funny when you look at it from the sidelines.
If you try to take it all a bit more serious for the sake of enjoying the stories, that's where it begins to get hard to swallow (for me).
