Feel free to discuss both the show and the comics. Try to keep spoilers and spoiler tags in mind for those who haven't read the comics or who might have missed the season finale.

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Seriously, you're like 13 trade paperbacks behind. The show is stretching things out a lot. You are just now meeting characters I've known 10 years and are about to hit one of the most amazing arcs in comic-dom.

Its actually a beautiful drama that is quite detailing of humanity once there are no more rules, and the zombies are simply the motivation. You'll love it.

On the one hand, I would be thrilled to actually get 10 more seasons of this, because I love it. On the other hand, I do worry that it'll be cancelled before then.

The Walking Thread is a little late. It would have been nice to have it during the season so we can discuss the current episode. Oh well, something to look forward to next season!

As far as I know there hasn't been an ongoing TV series exclusively about zombies, so this is new ground. But in general for a continuing story series (as opposed to episodes with self contained stories, or a mix of both which is typical of series like Grey's Anatomy and other dramas) the cap seems to be at about six seasons. Going by Sopranos and Lost and such.

Smallville did go for like ten seasons, right? and that might be comparable to TWD, but that is pretty long by most TV standards, so it's hard to say.

Also TWD has the problem of a mature audience restriction giving it a narrow target group (Really the Sopranos has been the only sustained series to overcome that, but it's getting more and more acceptable these days) and the always problem of new viewers decreasing as the show runs on. The question really is whether fan interest, who will be the bulk of the viewers, is high enough to sustain it.

Tell that to Joss Whedon whose shows were beloved by fans and never got high enough ratings to stay on.

I have a question for the comics people: why zombies with no arms? I'm thinking it's to mask her scent and to keep them from attacking her. But couldn't they still bite her?

How does it mask her scent?

I clicked the spoiler. Bad me. On the other hand: Woah!

I wonder if a battle axe would be more effective than a sword. I would think it would be easier to lob off zombie heads that way, but then I question the ability of a sword to lob off a head. It works in movies, but I'm not so sure about reality. Though we're talking zombies... Rolling Eyes

Actual Katanas are meant to cut through flesh like butter, as long as its kept in good condition it is a lot more lithe and maneuverable than an axe.
