Same here. I wonder why they included the rebel crest? Promotional purposes?

I forgot that this was set in the Legacy era. Weird.

definitely prefered the old one. Far more reminiscent of the original series.

The new one isn't horrible, but lacks detail IMHO.

You're right, there is a lot of white between the three.

I really like this new direction. They really stand from conventional sci fi covers.

I like the Rebel crest for nostalgic reasons, even if it doesn't make much sense.

Honestly I don't like the Rebel crest. It doesn't make a bit of sense.

'Mercy Kill' has sections set in the New Republic era - certainly 13 ABY and maybe 8 ABY, so the crest indicates that.

Ah, well that makes more sense. I still think the other cover looked better though.

I haven't been paying too much attention to the plot of the book, for I want to be surprised, but maybe the mission the Wraiths are going on isn't authorized and the Rebel symbol is supposed to symbolize the mind set of doing what is right regardless.

I'm really excited for this book. I'm almost done reading the X-Wing books, and I love the Wraith Squadron (and Rogue Squadron) characters. even if there are only one or two in the book, I'll be happy.

I think just about all of the Wraiths were in the excerpt.

I may just buy this book. That's saying something, since I've basically just waited for my library to get every Star Wars book that's been released the last couple of years.
