That’s a long, long period of time, and to tell you the truth, I don’t think that anybody really has a firm grasp on how we’re going to get from where we are now to where Legacy begins. And I don’t think they should –– I don’t think anybody should have that all pegged down right now. I think there’s too much fun to be had playing with that time period right now. That’s one of the things that comes up in Apocalypse –– has the future been changed? That’s a question that I don’t think I know the answer to right now, and I’m hoping the readers won’t know the answers to it. I suspect that probably the Lucasfilm people have an answer to that, but they haven’t shared it with me –– and I wouldn’t want them to. I hate spoilers, and that would be the biggest spoiler of all.

From what Denning said, it seems quite clear to me that everyone still plans on linking up with the Legacy comics. No where does it say the Legacy comics are no longer canon, or that anyone is thinking about getting rid of them. It does not even hint that the Legacy comics will be changed any.

What is revealed in the answers is that Denning sought to undo the way the novels were already tying things down to the Legacy comics. This doesn't change anything. The connection between the two has always been up in the air and undefined. No one knows how we get from point A to B. By undoing some of the precursor events like Jag being Emperor already and Tahiri being a Hand, nothing in Legacy was destroyed or even changed. It just means that Jag isn't going to establish his reign as emperor yet. The Imperial Knights aren't going to be created yet. Ben isn't going to be married and have a kid yet.

Admittedly, no it doesn't mean that the Legacy comics will be going anywhere, but it does raise the possibility that its at least being considered.

Honestly, I think that "the future has changed" is actually the best way to approach things. It allows the writers more freedom, and it doesn't make Legacy irrelevant. Instead, it allows it to exist as a parallel cannon.

The future is always in motion, and its interesting to see what could have happened.

if they decide to keep it and work towards it, that's fine too, but the way things are now, it seems like the powers-that-be are at least willing to let things slide away from that set path.

I think we'll start to get a better idea when the new editor who replaced Sue (What's her name BTW?) reveals what they have planned in the upcomming contract.

Not everyone liked Mortis, and Krayt's appearance mucks up the timeline unnecessarily. Its frustrating because they're handling things without considering consequences. Something that no one acknowledges from the Denning interview is that it IS being considered that Legacy might not be canon, that it might just be one possible future. I dislike how cavalier this novel felt towards that. Also, the Mortis stuff was literally tossed in at the last minute and it beyond shows. After 9 books with no reveal about Abeloth its suddenly, in the last half of the book, revealed that she's a being from the Mortis family. Didn't work for me or in fact a lot of people.

First of all, the Mortis stuff was not tacked on at the last minute. They started considering integrating Mortis back during Allies. Here's the quote from RD's interview with Troy when he was specifically asked about Mortis.

I'm also going to add Troy's answer regarding Dark Horse Legacy, and this is a question that I asked.

Then we learned about Dark Horse’s plans for the Legacy comics and Darth Krayt, and I began to toy with the idea that this was the dark future that Jacen was trying to prevent. We never formalized that idea. But from that point forward, in the back of my mind, I always had the idea that Jacen was trying to prevent a vision he had seen — of Darth Krayt sitting on the Throne of Balance. At some point, and I can’t remember when that was, I decided to add Allana to the vision. And that became a sort of nebulous climax that I kept in the back of my mind through both series, that I kept writing toward and hoping that would fit into all of the different stories we were telling.
