Talk about someone who really doesn't get it:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,423503,00.html

A small snippet from the review:

Quote:
Remember that sense of wonder you felt the first time you saw "Star Wars"?

Me neither.

Oh, sure, it was fun, but nothing to inspire the kind of devotion it's gathered over the years.

Its thin, derivative mythology just doesn't bear up under the weight of all the junk ? the prequels, the cartoons, the books, the action figures ? that has accumulated over the years.

This has me pretty pissed. How does this guy get off saying this kind of stuff when he obviously has no idea what he's talking about?

Trying to get attention by getting angry fans to respond to him.

Its the pitfall of the generic review. Kurt Loder does the same thing - bashes movies for being what they are supposed to be. For example people wrote a bad review for Rambo 2008 because it was too violent. I mean thats the point it has to be violent, its Rambo! You do not have to review the game as a star wars fan but you really cannot blame the game for the movies.

Heh, even more reason to stand tall and revel in our collective "Star Wars Dorkness"! His opinion is just that, an opinion, and therefore changes mine not one bit! If I choose to run around and beat the bejabbers out of some StormTroopers or Jawas, so what? It's what I do for fun in a videogame, he may like stacking blocks, and I'm not knocking that. I'll just agree to disagree, and leave it at that. That's my 2 cents...

Well said. Read/Watch/Play whatever you want, it's what makes you unique.

Hmm...I like that. Could be a nice tag line/slogan/motto. Smile

And there are things I like about FoxNews and things I do not. This is one of those I do not. But then, as somebody else said, this is the guy's opinion, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Of course his opinion is wrong, but to each their own. Very Happy

I didn't read through the article but judging from what people are saying, the review seems more targeted to parents than kids (how many kids watch a 24 hour news network for video game reviews?) However, parents might and it may be best to let them know how "violent" the game is or whatever. But, his opening lines do annoy me a bit....

you for got to put this next to the beeps: (hey even R2 can swear, and probably would given the review)

Fortunately there are no protocol droids in the EU Cantina that I know of so any beeps will remain untranslated.
