So, tonight was pretty much the worst night ever. Bad evening at work. New boss keeps hounding his managers until both they and we go crazy. Car refused to start when I finally got off. My dad decided to attempt to push the car to a repair shop instead of calling a tow like I begged him to. This did not end well. *sigh*

A minor gripe: I had planned on doing some research today. However, I've discovered Angry Birds. As a consequence, I have misplaced my entire morning.

Today's gripe: I have to drive over an hour to a art museum to complete a school assignment. Waste of gas.

We went to an amazing concert last night. One of the guys going with us revealed he had work in the morning so we had to come back. As a result I had to be awake and on the road till 4:30 in the morning while the other passengers slept. I'm exhausted.

Sorry you had a rough night, Cadeus!

The rainy weather keeps screwing up my internet connection.

Last night I got trapped under a bridge during the tornados that swept through Kansas (for those of you who don't know I live in Wichita. I was South of there last evening). A small child was crying and I grabbed him and huddled up with him. He was only 7 or 8. His mom had gotten separated from him and he was terrified. He peed on me, but I knew he was scared so he was ok. We huddled there for two hours while I told him stories and held onto him. We found his mom. She tried to drive home but got caught up in heavy traffic. Their car was T-boned and the child died. I found out this morning. This is...really difficult even though I didn't know the kid.

Caedus, that is so sad. Please be comforted by knowing that you where the instrument that gave comfort, safety and security in this child's last hours of life. That you made a difference.

I try to Cerrinea, but with everything that's happened thus far this year this is worse. A child died, and even though I spent hours protecting it I couldn't save it. My friend died saving what was to be either my mark or my scar left on the world but it would have been my legacy. Another friend is going to prison for it. I ran out of money and had to leave school. I lost a relationship that I believed could have ended in marriage. And a child died. At some point I have to question why bother. I protected that child and I'm glad that I could do what I could but he died.

Oh my gosh, this is so sad. I can understand the "why bother" mentality after something like this too. But you didn't know this kid was going die. In the moment, you did the right thing. And even if you knew this kid would die later, would it have changed your actions at all? Probably not, right? If I put myself in this kid's shoes, having someone there to protect me during such a scary moment would mean the world to me. It might seem pointless now that the he's gone, but you couldn't have known that would happen. And he's not dead because of anything you did. You saved this kid from the trauma of being alone in such a scary time, and that's something you should hold onto.

That doesn't stop it from being difficult, though. I can't even imagine how rough it is, having done that and then finding out that the poor kid died. Sometimes, all you can do is what you know, in your heart, is right. You did make a difference. I hope you realize that, especially when the going gets rough. You're one of the good ones.

Cerrinea and Vile are right. You did the right thing, and it made a difference. But I doubt that helps with the pain. I'm so sorry, Caedus.
