America doesn't trust anyone but America. Wink

I watched the episodes and enjoyed them. I'm looking forward to see where the series will go. I did find that the time jump caused me to be weirdly depressed throughout the whole thing. Also, I can't remember the bending brothers' names and will be referring to them as "replacement Sokka" and "replacement Zuko".

Since this show has started now...is anyone watching it? haha.

It sure feels a lot different than the first series. I think this is a good thing since trying to do that over again would just be disappointing. Although perhaps comparison and disappointment is inevitable.

It's interesting that in Avatar 1 it started out with Aang as a kid becoming the Avatar and developing into that role, whereas Korra is an adult or young adult and has been the Avatar in training for awhile now, but seems to be pretty far behind where Aang was at that point.

Do you think Aang will appear on the show to talk to Korra? If so I hope that they use it sparingly, like only once or twice at most. It would be cool to see Kiyoshi and Rokou (sp?)again, but I think we've heard their whole story the first time. Perhaps we'll see more new old Avatars.

Any guesses as to who Amon is? Since they mentioned it I'm sure it will be connected to someone we know.

I think it's

I haven't got around to watching it yet. I hope to soon.

Just finished watching all three episodes. Personally, I absolute love Amon. New favorite character. But I highly doubt:

He does have a very interesting ideology. On the surface what he is saying makes sense. If it wasn't for benders using their powers for oppression you wouldn't have had the 100 years war and the separation of the people into castes goes against the whole purpose of the Avatar.

On the other hand the Avatar is the one who needs to bring balance to the world and bending is the conduit between the Spirit world. The idea that there should be no bending really means that there should be no Avatar. That brings up the question of whether Amon is an Enlightenment Humanist who thinks that people need to be self-directed and not bound by the will of fate (or the Spirit world), or does he have an ulterior motive that is perhaps political and not altruistic to be anti-Avatar?

I can't wait to find out how exactly he got this power. If he's telling the truth... why? Why would the spirits do that? The fact that Korra fails to care or connect to the spirit world, and Amon is apparently very connected, will be important. In fact, what Amon says may be totally true - perhaps the spirits think Korra has failed since she has little interest in that side of being the Avatar.

Good point Ben. Another thought is that the Equalists using the chi blocking martial arts to stop a bender from..er, bending, is what Tai-Li the circus acrobat from Azula's entourage did.

That makes me think even more that he's connected to Zuko's line, although probably not Zuko himself.

Agreed. There's some connection to that group here. The whole "burnt face" thing might even be false - just an excuse to wear the mask. I look forward to the episode that reveals his face.

I watched the three episodes last night and quite enjoyed them. I liked how they made Korra feel like a fish out of water in Republic City, because the audience is going to inevitably feel the same way after the first series (heck, it took me a long time to get used to the time jumps in the Narnia books). It was neat to see Katara (I guess Aunt Wu's long life prediction came true), but I kind of wish they would have brought back Mae Whitman to voice her because between her aged appearance and new voice, their wasn't much to recognize her by - other than her "hair loopies".

The characters were pretty good, but I can't see myself loving them nearly as musch as I grew to love the old characters. I'll give them time of course, but Bolin and Mako seem like less-good copies of Sokka and Zuko. It makes me miss them even more. Korra's pretty cool though. And I love how Aang's son is Mr. Serious. Razz

But the villians! Man, do I love them! I thought Firelord Ozai was easily the weakest of the major characters from the first series. He was just your standard power-hungry baddie. Amon, on the other hand, is far more interesting. I love his mask (I've been partial to masks and face-covering helmets ever since I was a little kid obsessing over knights) and I really love how his group, the Equalists, are seeking equality. I find that so much more interesting and bold than just another villian-tyrant. Sometimes We The People can be villains too.

There wasn't any mention of the current Firelord, but I assume we'll find out who it is in future episodes.

Overall, I think this series has a much stronger start than the first series. I had to remind myslef to keep watching the first few episodes of the first series, but I watched all three of these in one sitting. I guess it helped that I was fan right from the beginning this time around. The artwork and animation is a step from the last series. Some shots are really gorgeous. I also noticed that there was significantly less humour in these episodes. I found myself chuckling at a few places, but the last series had my laughing. That isn't necessarily a complaint, but I thought it was interesting. We'll see where it goes. This show has big shoes to fill.

I hope so. Aang was my favourite character from the old show. If they do, I wonder how old they'll make him. I would love to see him being the same age he was from the previous series, but Zach Tyler Eisen's voice has probably long since changed (he's 18 now).

Is there a Firelord? I thought it seemed like the four nations had been united... to the point of abolishing separate nations completely. We haven't heard mention of any nation or kingdom... at most we know there are still two locations of the the water tribes, but are they still a separate "nation" from the rest? Or is it all one government now?

Well, Zuko was made Firelord at the end of Season 3, so I assumed there still would be a Firelord. The map at the beginning still had the dividing lines between the nations. Republic City is a multicultural city, but I don't think the entire world is.

Then I suppose the current Firelord would be Zuko's son or daughter, if he had one. If he didn't... I'm not sure how that would work.

Sorry to double-post, but a few other thoughts on the third episode.

The music was fantastic. I liked the jazz-themed tracks they used in the first two, but going with all strings and drums and a sound much more like TLA was perfect for this episode. The revelation of what Amon can do quickly increased the importance of this show, and what's at stake. The music needed to become more epic for this episode, and the Track Team didn't fail. The track when Korra is creating the distraction was beautiful.

I wonder if Amon planned for Korra to attend? It really depends how smart this guy is, and how deeply his plot runs. At the end of episode 1, he says that his plan must be accelerated with Korra arriving in Republic City. Could that plan include having the Revelation with the Avatar present, as the "perfect messenger"? Bolin was really out of place in that group... just a misunderstanding - unless he wasn't. If Amon had Bolin kidnapped on purpose, knowing Korra would be led to him through Bolin... then he's a smart guy, and we're seeing a great, great villain.

And the preview for next week! Korra, you so silly! Don't do it!

The animation reminded me of cowboy bebop, although I've never really watched it.

I wasn't aware the third episode was out. I'll have to go find it.
