I will be disappointed if Amon is just some random dude. I mean, there's no real reason for him not to be, but I'm hoping for something a little more nefarious.

yeah, the flashbacks imply that the Equalists are connected to something that happened during Aang's time. So it could be as yet unnamed character, but it won't be someone that we know nothing else about.

At least we know it's not Cabbage Guy.

I laughed like an idiot about Cabbage Corps. Also, I need answers about how the Equalists relate back to Aang now.

The flashbacks appear to show Aang fighting with someone, possibly Amon. It's the assumption that this has something to do with the equalists because Korra has seen them when fighting with the equalists. And because that is the thing we as the viewers are presumably wondering about.

I don't want to spoil anything from today's episode. It was easily the best yet. And the moment that I especially don't want to spoil - my jaw literally dropped. I just that there with my mouth hanging open. It's such a big shock I don't even want to put it in a spoiler tag.

I personally feel that the previous episode was better. I thought the first half of today's kind of dragged a little. But the ending blew my mind, as well.

Also, Tenzin is officially my favorite.

Not really a spoiler, since they already mentioned it on the show I guess. but I never heard about it until now.

Yakone is just the popular fan speculation.

In one of the earlier episodes, Tarrlock tells Tenzin that Aang wasn't afraid to take action against Yakone when he threatened Republic City. And that's literally all we have heard about him from the show. Fans are getting ahead of themselves if they're acting like the guy in the flashbacks has been confirmed to be Yakone.

But, it probably is.
