My library now has Scourge. I was planning on reading the Jaden Korr books back-to-back. I'm only about 70 pages into Crosscurrent, so I might put that on hold for now.

I'm reading Hero's Trial right now and I'm confused. Nom Anor was in Vector Prime. Then, in Dark Tide, they say he's dead, but he shows back up in Hero's Trial. There's no explanation for why Shadao Shai thought Nom Anor was dead and why he came back. I'm sure I missed something. Anyone know?

He vanished and didn't contact much more of the advance force till later, when Shedeo Shai was dead.

Did the books ever say why? Was this a strategic move on his part? It never says he was planning on looking dead, just boom, he'st not there. Shedao thinks he's dead, so of course, he's vanished.

I think it had to do with the failure of the Praetorite Vong. He would incur the wrath of the rest of the Vong because of how badly the first step of the invasion went. So he went underground for a bit until it blew over.

But that's just what I got from it. I could be wrong.

I've finished Scourge. A good read. a few iffy points, but all in all a decent read.

I've also read The Lost Suns TPB. I'm unfamiliar with the events of the TOR era, so I spent some time trying to figure out its placement - what had happened when - instead of just reading the story. The story itself was good, though, again, iffy at times. Art was good, a bit like KOTOR, and pleasing to look at.

It came out in late April, and is going quite cheaply on Amazon.

I think The Lost Suns is supposed to be slightly before the events of the game.

TOR: Annihilation features the same main characters, but starts immediately after the game (as the game stands now; presumably expansion packs will push the story further).

I just finished the second book of the Dark Nest Trilogy. I'm undecided wether I like or hate this series so far. On one hand, there are a lot of cool moments, like Han and Luke doing a lot together (which they didn't do during NJO, or the later Fate opf the Jedi) and I like how Luke is learning about his mother. On the other hand, the jedi are shown as complete idiots. The Killicks are obviously a huge threat to the galaxy, yet the jedi feel the need to help them, even if it makes the GA and Chiss furious. Personally, I think Cal Omas is a hero of this series, distracting the idiotic Jedi so that the gA/Chiss can do what needs to be done.

Another annoying thing is the Killicks themselves, especially Raynar Thul. They are the most airheaded threat to the Star Wars universe. They are more easily manipulated than a Gamorrean, they can even be made to compltely forget things by a few Dark Jedi, even if said DJ are right in front of them. They won't except an explanation for anything that they didn't think up themselves, even in light of irrefutable evidence. Also, the whole brainwashing thing is just lame.

On that topic, why doesn't the joining process fade away when the people leave? Why are Tahiri, Tekli, Tesar and Lowbacca still like half joiner over a year after the events of the first book, and why are Zekk and Jaina still joiners? I know that them being all weird doesn't last into Legacy of the Force, so I know that the joining can be broken. Why did the jedi just let two of their order travel around as weird insect twins for over a year without trying to cure them?

Also, why is Saba a jerk? Oh, no Leia. You can't take this crucial find to Cilgahl until you meditate, no matter who is in danger. Seriously, I like Saba in NJO and FOTJ, but she seriously needs to be put into a coma until the DN trilogy is done.

As for Jacen Solo, he's just cemented the fact that I've been right to hate him since the first book of the NJO. He's half Sith already by the second DN book. Heck, he's almost repeating Anakin Skywalker's fall exactly (has weird visions/dreams, doesn't agree with the jedi order, does completely unethical things to defend his girlfriend). It seems obvious he's going to be a sith (or, more accurately I guess, a dark jedi) in the very near future.

Still, I don't hate the trilogy, but its definately not going to be a favorite of mine.

I'm going to read all the novels (including the Bantam era) in chronological order from the Old Republic to the Fate of the Jedi. I finished Deceived last night so, I will continue from there.

At last count, there were over 120 novels so, it will take a while. Very Happy

Edit: After looking at my book collection last night, I decided not to do this. There are way too many books outside of SW that I want to read.
