If they are going to start having gay characters, hopefully, they will create new characters unlike some comic empires who turned some of the characters that have been around for decades into homosexuals.

*cough* green lantern, batwoman *couth*

It would be really upsetting if they made any beloved character that has been around for years homosexual (regardless of whether they were human or alien).

I don't agree with the lifestyle so, I'll probably not buy the books.

Regardless of my stance on homosexuality, I'm not against having homosexual characters in books. Art imitates life, so if it whatever happens in real life is fair game for art... depending on what kind of art it is.

For example, if we're talking about a fairy tale, I would be against it. In a fairy tale world kings are good, democracies don't exist (in that world, why should they?), magic is real, and there are characters who are completely evil... and homosexuality (which is never included anyway) wouldn't be shown in a positive light. If you don't like it, find another genre. That's just the way it works.

Now for Star Wars... I don't see why not. It's idealized sure, but it's a far cry from a fairy tale. I wouldn't have a problem with homosexual characters in Star Wars personally, but like Sidious said, I would be ticked off if a character like Luke Skywalker "came out of the closet" after all these years.

Ya let's not pull a JK Rowling here. A gay character (many would exist I'd think) would be fine but not one that's been heterosexual for years.

I wouldn't mind if a major character was gay, as long as it's a completely new character or even an existing canonical nobody that's expanded upon. However, I expect there to be backlash if that happened. I have friends who are boycotting DC because of the Green Lantern controversy.

That really ticked a lot of people off. I don't mind gay DC characters, god knows Batwoman is an incredible story so far, but the Green Lantern thing felt done more for shock value or a "for a reaction" thing than anything else.

I don't know anything about Batwoman or the Green Lantern but if an (SW) author suddenly makes something like this, I'll know they've run out of ideas.

Wouldn't any alien/human relationships by definition make the aliens homosexual?

It's these kinds of stupid questions that leave it best left out.

We just need to keep in mind that Star Wars was made in 1977 when no homosexuals existed, except for ones in film's the design and wardrobe department.

Homosexuality (meaning 'same sex', so alien/human sex wouldn't be classed as homosexuality) was legalised (over here, at least) in 1967, so it's likely that there were openly gay actors at the time. However, to be technical, Star Wars was also made in 2005 *Points to Stephen Fry*.

Whether it is legal to have sex with ET, well the law doesn't predict it.
