Lol. More like a jerk and a couple of spoiled, whiny brats. Thank Mortis for Ackbar, huh. Wink

Splinter of the minds eye, made me want to break things.... Seriously, it had Luke dueling avaunt Darth Vader and cutting his arm off waaayy too early, he was way too advanced in his skills, and I just hated the book entirely.

IIRC, wasn't Luke posessed by Obi-Wan's spirit during that duel(mind you, it's been quite a while since I read the book)? That's why his skills seem more advanced than they should.

Really, that was the only truly bad part of Splinter of the Mind's Eye, the ending. There were a couple of other annoyances but really the out-of-wack ending just killed the whole book for me. It's so out of place.

Though with Han and Chewie not being in it, that does set up a time frame for the new Zahn book Scoundrels...

Also, has The Courtship of Princess Leia been mentioned yet? Man was that book terrible. I couldn't get past the 3rd chapter, everyone's characterizations were friggin' awful, and it was just one totally boring political plot that would NEVER happen in the galaxy far far away.

Scoundrels will be taking place over a year and a half before Splinter.

I say Choices of One was one of my least favorite SW novels. Luke was horribly written IMO. Especially after his characterization in the Empire and Rebellion comic series. By the time he comes across Tank, he has grown a lot, and Zahn has him acting like he's right off the farm again.

I believe it has been mentioned here, but I must give the same saddened reaction:

Aw, it's my favorite Star Wars book. I've read it more times than any other. I don't understand the hate. Sad

I like Courtship, but it was awkward in places.

I forget much of it. I vaguely remember sort of liking it.

I enjoyed it and when I feel that sentimental side of me take over I re-read it.

I recall being able to get into everything in Courtship except the complete annihilation of Luke's character.

So he semi-fell for a sexy Amazon woman in lizard hides, what's wrong with that?

He piloted the Falcon and manned the guns with the Force.
