EUC: Why did X-wing: Mercy Kill undergo a cover revision?

SB: For Mercy Kill, we looked at what was originally the final and felt it looked dated. We wanted the design to harken back to the old Bantam X-wing novels but it was missing the mark. While discussing redesigning the cover we saw these great posters for Star Wars done by Olly Moss. I used this as inspiration for the cover and Iím very happy with the final product.

All this and more in our exclusive Scott Biel interview!

Library has this on order, so I'll be waiting for it. Not sure if I'm going to buy any books at the moment, but this will be the first one if I do.

Yay ! for Del Ray realizing that fans want pilots ! The GFFA is big enough for pilots, bounty hunters and scoundrels as well as endless Jedi/Sith stories. Jedi are good, but it's also good to read about the people who are more like us and it's nice to have the characters who find their own fate, and rely on their own moral compass, without being directed by, or relying on the Force.

When Luke chooses whether to kill someone, he has to consider how it will affect him as a Force user - will he risk turning dark ? When Wedge has to make the same decision it's entirely on his own conscience - there's no metaphysical 'conscience' (the Force) to punish him if he acts in anger. Jedi are taught to 'listen to the Force' and to let it guide them. Ordinary beings have to use their own judgement.

I'm putting it rather simply but that's the essence of my agrument.

On the Random House website, you can see the first pages of 22 chapters, including the Dramatis Personae, by clicking on the book cover.

Awhile back, EUCantina got the first scoop on an audio excerpt. You can listen to it here! http://www.eucantina.net/archives/13587

That's an interesting list, though I'm not sure how I feel about it. It'll be great to see those faces again, yet at the same time, the X-Wing books did have a bit of a high (higher than normal) body count. It would be sad to see one of those go.

I've just pre-ordered my copy. It's out about a week later in the UK than the USA so I@m going to have to be cautious about reading Mercy Kill threads till I get my copy.

I was surprised about not seeing a formal Wraith line up in the DP. We've been told previously that there will be two Wraith squadrons in the book - plus flashbacks to previous versions of the squadron - so perhaps that made a full, formal DP too complicated. Plus maybe Allston wants to surprise the readers with who appears during the book.

I'm really getting excited, waiting to read it.

Do not let the DP scare you. There are more Wraiths than that in the book. Like Corellias Dream mentioned, there are two Wraith Squadrons, so you can expect two full casts of characters on top of flashbacks with the old Wraiths.

Those that have read the excerpt from this book that was included in Apocalypse know that it featured an Imperial admiral named Kosh Teradoc. Does anybody think he could be related in some way to Treuten Teradoc

There's a new Mercy Kill excerpt in Lost Tribe of the Sith: Collected Stories!

Should have it from the library shortly, though I am probably planning on buying this one. Sadness on the review, though. Can we not have a success? What's with all the falling short? Sad
