I kind of want the hurricane. If it happens we get rain and work is less miserable.

I figured it was going to hit New Orleans just by the way it was going. Stay safe Mara, Padme, and anyone else who lives in the New Orleans area.

Orange county got a tornado warning from one of Isaac's rain bands. It's not my part of Orange county, but it is pretty stormy here right now.

Sitting at work being told that you will not be paid, even as a salaried worker, to stay home during the storm is just about a mood killer. Basically, if we don't risk our lives to get here through the storm on Wednesday, we will not be paid. Despite being salaried employees. All this while the government employees are being told to go home with pay. That's the government for you. Take care of itself, throw the contractors to the wolves.

Not to mention...! We can't even have the day off! If we don't come in, we have to make up the hours or use our sick time. I'm new, I have no sick time! Evil or Very Mad

Well guys...as long as we don't lose cell towers, I should be able to post from my phone. As long as the battery lasts, anyway. But electricity is sure to go out sometime today, and there's no telling when it will be back on. So farewell for now...I'll see you on the other side! Smile

We're still surviving over here. Amazingly enough, we still have power. I have no idea how that's working. The wind and rain are pretty harsh, and we have a newly created river in our backyard that never used to be. It's quite a rushing monstrosity.

We're fairing better than most areas, though. I know there are hundreds of thousands without power, there's a lot of flooding, some Northshore levees have broken (not sure about the Southshore), and there are trees falling. It's not Katrina, but it's not good. Sad

Yeah, when Hurricane Jeanne came through back in 2004, we didn't lose power at all aside from a few flickers.

Again I say, stay safe, be cautious, and hope for the best. Smile

And there it went. Ah, well. I suppose it was inevitable. No telling when it'll be back on, but...hopefully soon.

I only just got internet back after the never ending storm. The thing sat on us for almost 48 hours.

To put things in perspective, hurricanes usually blow through in under 8 hours.
