What Book are you reading now? (Other than Star Wars)

Loved all the movies, but didn't enjoy the books until the last one. As it extends farther than the movie, it wraps up some loose ends, and you actually get to see how carrying the ring for so long affected Frodo, which was interesting. Something funny,I actually enjoyed the Hobbit much more than the trilogy.

Okay I finally finished the book. Had to wake up 04:45 in the morning to finish it in time to write the report though(it had to be handed in today). To tell the truth, the ending wasn't as crappy as I thought it would be. It was even a bit sad. Even if I didn't really like the part of all the journeying through the forest I must say that it was very well written for a book published in 1954.
The Two Towers here I come!

So I finished by Kevin J. Anderson mini-binge. Death Warmed Over was pretty good. Overall I thought it was a fun book. Not a blow your mind, most epic book ever type of novel, but fun.

I also finished Clockwork Angels which is a quasi children's story, coming of age tale about a boy in a world run by the Watchmaker. The place is all perfectly planned and organized, but there isn't a lot of freedom. The boy then goes on an adventure, gets into trouble, etc. But the material in the book was all PG, so it felt like something you could read to your kids if you wanted to. It wasn't too bad and I enjoyed it.

I read a few chapters of The Hammer and the Blade. Fantasy isn't my thing, but Kemp impressed me with his Star Wars books. After that, I'm reading the Hugo Award Novel of Year winner Among Others.

Unfortunately, our library doesn't have any Kemp books outside of Star Wars. But I did find out they have the Deceived and Riptide audios, which I would love to listen to. *adds to 27-mile long list*

I decided to let Lord of the Rings rest for a while and read Jurassic Park instead. It was well written and full of action (which I liked a lot) and I loved the characters. The only thing that bothered my was that they used a lot of swear words. And this time (as it is in most cases) the book was better than the movie.
Overall, I enjoyed it.

The book was excellent, wasn't it? And you could see where they got a lot of plot points for the second and third movies. Agreed about the cursing, though. My younger sister really wanted to read it, so I bought a paperback copy for a quarter and went at it with a Sharpie. Cool

I bought the second book (The Lost World) at a second-hand book store but I don't know if I want to start on it already. I'm pretty swamped with books at the moment and I still have to finish The Dance of the Giants before the library will start looking for it.
I also got The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It is very small but it looks promising. Smile

@Jaina the Jurassic Park books are some of my favourite books ever.

The Lost World is really good too, but the first one is better. One word of warning though: The Lost World (book) has VERY LITTLE in common with the movie. Just be aware. I had the pleasure of reading the book first for that one. Good times.

I actually loved Lost World more than the first book. But, then again, I did speed through it, rather than actually digest it. I should probably give them both another read through.

Finished 1984, and am going to read Splinter Cell. It's another game tie-in book, so I'm feeling a little uneasy about it, but I'm hoping that it'll be pretty good. It seems to be in the first person, from Sam Fisher's point of view, so if all else fails I can imagine Michael Ironside is reading it. That should make it awesome all on its own!
