Not sure if anyone has heard of the movie that will be starring Harrison Ford, among others. Ender's Game was a novel written by Orson Scott Card in 1985, and the series has continued to the present, with Card still writing novels within the saga.
The premise of the story is something similar to Halo. Earth was attacked by an alien invasion force and barely survived. In the 70-80 years since, Earth's International Fleet has been prepping for a rematch. One of their tactics is to pull the smartest children from Earth's population and send them to Battle School at the age of 6, where they are trained to lead forces into space combat. During this time, they are primarily looking for a genius of geniuses to one day save the human race and defeat the alien forces for good. Ender Wiggin is the brilliant mind they've been looking for, and the novel follows his story.
I don't have much time to read these days, so I was happy to note that our library has the entire series, save one novel, on audio. I recently picked up Ender's Game, the first novel in the series, and have been greatly enjoying it. Can't wait to listen to the entire series. Hopefully I can finish up before the movie releases next year.
I'm also happy to note that Harrison Ford is playing Lieutenant Graff, one of my already favorite characters. Anyone else ever dabbled in this series, or are perhaps interested in the film? _________________
