Mara Jade Skywalker Master Joined: 15 Feb 2008 Posts: 5359 Location: Beyond Shadows Somebody left a sticky note on my computer screen at work today: "Good morning beautiful. Have a great day!" I have no idea who did it. But I will say this...it looks like female handwriting, though I am certainly not an expert on handwriting. I shall elaborate: 1. Our hot water heater went out, and I have to be up at 5:30 to get ready for work. I decided I would be too tired to attempt an alternative to showering, so simply planned to wash my hair. Because of this, I slept later than if it were shower day. And yet, when I awoke, my mother had gotten up at 5:30 to boil several pots of water so I could take a hot bath. I almost cried at the gesture. I knew taking a bath would put me behind schedule, but I couldn't have cared less. 2. I left the house 15 minutes late only to run into an accident that had traffic hopelessly stopped. However, this was about the only spot on this particular road where one could take a quick little hop through a parking lot to get around. Score two for the morning. 3. By the time I got to work, I was going to be about 20-25 minutes late, so I decided what was another 5 minutes? I proceeded on to my favorite coffee shop. When I arrived, I found that the internet was down and they were only taking cash. This happened to be one of the only days in my recent life that I had enough cash to purchase a coffee. Score three. Bonus: The weather today is in that perfect state that occurs only once or twice a year in Louisiana. What do you mean, 'no'? Okay, so this is more of a gripe, as I'd rather not have left, but it's nice to be back on here, so I'm counting it as a good thing . _________________ I am a Star Wars fan. That doesn't mean that I hate or love Jar Jar. That doesn't mean I hate or love Lucas, or agree or disagree 100% with him. That doesn't mean I prefer the PT over the OT, or vice versa. That doesn't mean I hate the EU, or even love all of it. These are not prerequisites. Being a man is not a prerequisite. Being a geek is not a prerequisite. The only prerequisite is that I love something about Star Wars. I am a Star Wars fan.

Fairly . @Proudfoot: Yes, I was in London with my girlfriend (and the weather held, for the most part!). Which is special in itself, because it's a long-distance thing, and we don't get a lot of time together (now she's on her way back to AU ). Beyond that, we mainly did the tourist thing, visited museums, palaces and stuff, and - oh! London Dungeon! Okay, let me get the full list down (or at least some of the major points. My brain is quite fuzzy): Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Tower Of London, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Aquarium, London Zoo. Shopping. Stonehenge. Woodhenge. Avebury. Bath. Lots of shopping! A Jack the Ripper tour. And a chocolate tour which I sadly had to duck out of because I was feeling ill. British Library and British Museum (though only some of it, was running low on time), and the London Eye. Big Ben. Houses of Parliament. That's all I can remember for now. And London Dungeon, which I thoroughly enjoyed - it's a combination of historical education and cheap thrills, provided by actors and mood-setting sets. It was thoroughly entertaining. And more shopping - my girl surprised me with a trip to Forbidden Planet. It's supposedly a rather famous geek shop - though I hadn't heard of it, but that's not surprising, and isn't indicative of anything about the shop itself - and I thoroughly geeked out. We don't have such shops in my area, you see, so I was like a kid in a candy store (which I also visited), and had to restrain myself quite a bit. Phew. He was with this girl he met and she wound up calling me off of his phone as a joke and we all wound up having a conversation between the 3 of us for about an hour or so. He is beyond smitten so naturally I'd have had to meet this girl eventually. She is awesome. THat's probably the only word to describe it.
