Traviss didn't write Wild Space. Karen Miller did.
Also, I'm assuming Pablo knows a bit more about what's happening than we do so I'll give him the benefit when it comes to moving Allegiance and Choices of One. |
My bad. Remembered it was a Karen. Picked the wrong one.
Point stands. It was a poor line to include that added nothing to the story but caused problems down the road. |
Expanded Universe is Star Wars tie in literature. To sell books, they're gonna have a lot of books during this time even to the point where Han, Luke, and Leia are doing everything simultaneously. It doesn't make in-universe sense, but from from a business point of view, I totally get it.

There's still plenty of room to do Han/Leia/Luke stories, they just have to start thinking about when to set them a little more.
There are roughly 75 works between ANH and 1 year ABY. Yet from 13 months to 3 years ABY (ESB) there are only about 30 (this is based on my last timeline update, numbers for both are slightly higher but you get the idea). Somewhat disproportionate.
There is no reason that all the "classic trilogy" stories have to occur OMGZ, ITS RIGT AFTER ANH GUYZ!!.
There's two years of timeline where they can tell the same stories without everything crushing together, and it would have little to no effect on the stories/plot lines themselves.
This is why it bugs me that Allegiance and Choices are moved from the very logical date of 2 ABY to 1 ABY in the ERC, because it just creates more problems unnecessarily.
By all means, expand on the classic stories, that's what draws a lot of people to Star Wars in the first place. But take a few moments to consider the loyal fans too.
