Probably not going to get a chance to watch Episode 4 of Merlin

tomorrow evening after it airs since we have a family get together to go to; we have to be there at 4:30 and it's at least an hour's drive away from our house, which means it may be close to 9:00 before we get home. Not sure yet if I'll have time to watch it Sunday either since I have schoolwork to do after church and the penultimate episode of Downton Abbey Series 3 is airing in the UK Sunday night. We'll see.

Call me cynical, but maybe it's because Neilson ratings are the only reliable way to track not what shows people are watching; but what commercials people are watching. And that's what they really care about.

I'm growing uneasy about where the creators of Merlin are going for Series 5. There's already been a few continuity blunders in previous episodes and a plot turn regarding

that does not at all make sense to me; and now I've discovered a spoiler from this Saturday's upcoming episode that has me wary -

I could be wrong about who says it, of course, but I don't think I am, and this makes me very uneasy. The whole point of the show was for Arthur and Merlin to step into their destiny as The Once and Future King and Emrys. If it is indeed Merlin who says this, and the show ends with this series and without Merlin revealing his magic to Arthur, I won't be happy.

Yes, I know there's still a chance, but I'm not feeling very optimistic right now.

BTW, what do you think of the episodes so far, or have you watched them yet?

@Alan: I adored this past week's Merlin. About time they gave Gwen some significant screentime.
