Episode VII in 2015 [spoiler thread]

The thing that really sucks is that they don't even have to include anything from the EU, they just don't need to do things that directly contradict it. You could have a movie about a middle aged Luke, Han and Leia fighting robot dinosaurs and it wouldn't necessarily violate continuity unless you made the decisions to rewrite established history and have them say "Good thing that we never had kids!" You don't even need to show the kids and it works out because in the EU we know that they are there and in the movies they could just not be on screen.

It really isn't that hard at all. That's what Leland is for. Run it by him and he'll give you a short list of minor details to change and that's it.

But I've heard many people say that the best thing about new movies is that it will get rid of the EU. These laser brains think that Podracing is better than Thrawn.

O I know GL murdered Anakin, I'm just saying if I'm gonna dream, I'm gonna go all out!! And actually I would quite enjoy that too Reep. Though if they do choose to go OR, I'm hoping for a KOTOR movie.

Won't happen Reep, but it's a solid idea.

It would be stupid from their POV for them not to do a Big Three movie. If not, as someone pointed out, "They are just paying for the words "Star Wars." That's two billion a word."

I would die if they were re-cast. There are some characters you just can't re-cast and Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo are some of them.

The recast idea is problematic. I just don't think the general audience will like it. Maybe I'm wrong.

If they do keep the original cast, which seems likely, I think that they will have the movie be about the passing of the torch to the next generation, whoever they are. Then those new characters will go on to be the protagonists in the following films.

I don't think that GAs will want to see new characters as the stars right off the bat in this one. I also think that they won't like the NJO story. It's too non star wars for movies. Of course that's why we liked it because it did something different, but that was after the bantam era. We don't have that in movies. The villains have to have some connection to the Empire or else it will come off as cheesy alien invader of the week Trek stuff.

Honestly, at this point I just hope they don't hire Mark, Carrie and Harrison to do voices for their CGI created 30yo characters of Luke, Leia and Han.

I have no problem with them using Anthony Daniels in this regard though.
