Why is it that when a good film is on TV, you sit and watch it even though you have the DVD?

Too lazy to fire up the DVD player I guess?

9 times out of 10 I find something else to watch. I hate it when my pauses (bathroom trips, snack acquisition trips, etc.) are dictated by the commercials. I want to hit pause!

The exception is when I'm bored on a weekend, my wife's at work, and it's a movie I really like (e.g. Star Wars, or a comic book movie).

Don't anybody take this the wrong way, I don't mean it to mean anything (regarding the election outcome). I just wanted to quote my parents, as they made me giggle. They were watching the election results:

Mom: "What's that line, that line from Star Wars?"
Dad: "I don't know. There are lots of lines."
Mom: "You know, the line. This is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause. Yeah, that's it."
Dad: "That's from Star Wars?"
Mom: "Yeah. Padme says it."
Dad: "Who? Padme? Oh, yeah, I remember."

I would like to credit myself for the geeky knowledge that made up this conversation. Cool

I think of that line many times while observing politics. Wink

Or when you've seen it like three times and you're almost sick of it when one night it's on TV and suddenly you watch it for the fourth time?

Very funny exchange, though if you'd ask me to bet on which line they'd pick I'd have gone with "I have a bad feeling about this" since that's kinda the classic line. Obviously I've also spent more time on the forums than watching ROTS when my brain process for a half second went "wait why are they talking about our Padme from EUC.....*facepalm* wrong Padme brain...." (I blame her signature for this confusion) Laughing

Question of the Day: Should I buy Bioshock 2, Mass Effect 3, or Halo 4?

Mass Effect 3. Not a Halo fan personally and never got into Bioshock.

@Skulls: Bioshock two was fun but a huge step down, but Mass Effect 3 is great. Halo 4 is incredible but only really if you're a Halo fan. I loved the story, its getting darker and more in-depth, and the gameplay changes are awesome.

Question: after having a nightmare about being nearly killed by a vampire is it a bad sign that in the morning when you check your e-mail you see that your department secretary sent a listserv e-mail (which includes you) advertising the opportunity to do archaeology field work in Translyvania?

That's just plain creepy since I had a dream of being killed by a vampire last night... Shocked

That kind of reminded me of this. Dude, how cool would it be if you went?! Just, you know, eat massive quantities of garlic bread.

You know, when I was a teenager, I had a fear of vampires. I would sleep with my arm wrapped around my neck, to protect it from getting bitten. Rolling Eyes
