For the most part I'm not crazy about an artist tinkering once a product has been released to the public, unless it's a director's cut of a movie. But I believe he does have the right to do it if he decides to since it his work. does that mean all the tinkering is good ... or bad? nope.
i think some of the additions have been positive. the increased populations and adding atmosphere doesn't bother me. and while i'm not crazy about the 'noooooo' i don't think it ruins the movie by any stretch. i thought it was more ominous when he said nothing. but it's not my film.

i have more of an issue with the fact that some of the great docs and extras that were on the previous films were not included in the blu-ray version. i thought the blu-ray should have been the ultimate, comprehensive package with everything included. there''s room on those discs, so why they weren't included is beyond me.
in fact, i'm actually disappointed in just how bare bones the blu-rays are as a package. it's a collection of moments rather than something packaged, finished and befitting a franchise such as this one.
these discs pale in comparison to the LOTR extended dvds and those incredible making-of docs and commentaries. wars should have gotten that treatment as well. that it didn't disappoints me greatly as i'm not buying these films in another form or format again.

Because those will undoubtedly be included on the Blu-ray set with the saga in 3D. Wink

But you're right. It couldn't be that there isn't enough room on those disks to put all the documenteries on them. I hadn't even looked at it that way.

A podcast mentioned it somewhere, but do you think the alteration of Anakin's Force ghost in Return of the Jedi could mean a return of Haden Christensen (as a Force ghost) in Episode VII, VIII, or IX?

I say: "Bring it on!" I personally loved Christensen as Annie! Very Happy

I wouldn't say it necessarily means a return for Anakin, but if we did see Christensen return as Anakin's Force Ghost, I wouldn't mind. He's a good actor (at least, in the one or two other films I've seen him in) and could pull it off better.

I wouldn't mind seeing him return.

He is definitely a possibility. Who knows, we may even get "super masked to look older" Ewan as Force ghost of Obi-Wan, Yoda as Force ghost and hey, while i'm at it why not even Liam Neeson as the spirit of Qui-Gon Jinn.

Now that looks just plain creepy! First I see Ewan, then I see Alex. Ewan, Alex, Ewan, Alex. The madness doesn't stop! Shocked

I would be interested in seeing a CGI-rendering of Guinness though, kind of like what they did to make a younger-looking Jeff Bridges in Tron: Legacy. There was a bit of "uncanny valley" with that film, but it was still pretty good. And I think it would work for a five-minute scene.

There's a reason you keep seeing that, Jaina. One of the docs for the ROTS dvd is about how they bridges Ewan to the older Obi-Wan/Alec Guiness look. The reason it worked so well is that Ewan McGregor and Alex Guiness share almost identical facial "triangles". That is: eyes, nose and mouth.

I hope not. A sock puppet could act better than what Haden Christensen did in the prequels. If I had a choice, I'd like to see Matt Latner reprise his role. He's doing an awesome job on The Clone Wars show.

The sock puppet is also less wooden (there are so many good jokes to be made about his performance...)
