Padme, it seems that Series 5 is indeed the end of Merlin; Odyessy Film has posted on their FB page about "the final episode of Merlin, in fact it's the final shot of the series." They've hidden this page now, but someone was able to get a screenshot of the page beforehand, so too late. Rolling Eyes

If they wanted to keep this under wraps they shouldn't have been so open about it in the first place.

In any case, it seems the writing is indeed on the wall: seven more weeks and then the final episode - of Series 5 and the show as a whole - will air the Saturday after Christmas. Crying or Very sad

I don't really know what to make of this spoiler: it's certainly interesting, but confusing. Here's the links if you want to look for yourself:

I don't think it likely that TPTB are pulling the wool over our eyes this time - not with this proof. Besides, 5 hits the halfway mark this Sat. with Episode 7 and there's still been no news of a Series 6. So this is it.

I'm avoiding spoilers. I haven't seen last week's episode yet, I'll probably get around to it tomorrow.

I'll be sad if we only get five series out of the show. I enjoy it.

Padme, the synopsis for Series 5 Episode 11 has just been released, and it does not sound good at all. I'm growing more and more apprehensive about the end of the series.

Mathew Weiner, the writer of The Sopranos and Mad Men is a genius. He made a great show that everyone loves about psychotic, drug addict, violent criminal thieves in suits.

The Sopranos is a good show too.

Yep, just as I thought. After all the flip flopping will-they-won't-they that's been going on all spring, summer, and fall, the BBC has officially announced that "Merlin" will bow out from the BBC network with a two part finale on 22 and 29 Dec., perfectly bracketing Christmas Day.

Sorry to crush your hopes, Padme, but it was obvious to me weeks ago that Series 5 would be the end. Now we just have to wait and see if the finale is truly worthy of ending the show.

@Padme: Finally! It was an episode that was just plain good and everyone was on form while receiving development. Felt more fun than it has in a couple years.
