I hope all my American friends on this board had a good thanksgiving.

My thanksgiving was last month. It was delicious too though, so it's all good Smile

Caedus...SWTOR is Free-to-play now. I'm pretty sure that means free to download too. A quick trip to SWTOR.com confirms that. Why did you buy it?

My good thing: I had a nice relaxing weekend. Did my best to avoid shopping centres for the most part (I did have to do Costco and Wal-Mart briefly, but it was fine).

Did my usual Saturday trip to the comic book store. I'm now on a first-name basis with the girl who works the Saturday open shift. Went home and read my books. Good times.

If you purchase TOR, you receive a preferred account, which is granted more privileges than an account that downloaded the game for free.

TOR is free now? I just might give it a try then.

Ok, but how much did the game cost? Because I think you also get preferred status by making even one in-game purchase. $30 game or $5 armor set?

Then again, the unlocks from Preferred from game purchase might be even more.

It was $6 with free shipping. If nothing else it wasn't even enough to worry about. The preferred status thing is 'eh' to me, but for $6 I have it, I have a hard copy of the game, it looks cool on my shelf, and this weekend I plan on diving into it. Its not really a big deal to me, it goes with my desire to own most things SW, and I get all that other stuff.

Makes sense to me!

I'm on the Prophecy of the Five server (East Coast PVP) and The Ebon Hawk server (East Coast RP).

Seems like it defeats the point of an RPG if you can just buy upgrades for your character with real money. Then again, that's how it works in real life, so who needs exp?

That's not how it works. While you can buy gear with real money in-game, you would be at an extreme disadvantage. You can only buy gear ever 5-10 levels or so, and I think the gear you buy isn't necessarily better than the stuff you find in-game (I think it's more for Cosmetic purposes sometimes).

This day has been a mixed bag. I'll focus more on the good than anything else.

1. I get the day off (I'm sick as a dog, but I get to take a more chill day)
2. I was given a gorgeous hardcover of one of the best books of all time by a friend
3. My book collection was increased this week by 4 overall and I'm excited
4. I have several new albums that I've been acquiring from garage sales that include Smashing Pumpkins
