You say that now, but wait until you've got blood poisoning from that infected scratch. You'll be singing a different tune...right before you die Very Happy

This is hilarious! I just saw this ad on Craigslist:

"Black XL bird cage five feet tall. Call for more info Jackie XXX XXX XXXX. Will also come with three cockatiels."

It sounds like they're selling the cage, and just happen to throw in some Cockatiels. I'm sorry, that just has me rolling. Laughing

Maybe I'm getting tired...

No, that's actually pretty funny. And creative.

Except I'm assuming you got some sort of anesthetic. Along with no longer manufacturing antibiotics pain killers and anesthetic will also go. I'm not sure we'll do so well with more serious injury when they go back to the pre-20th century "here's a stick to bite down on, if you're lucky not only will you survive the pain but you also won't get an infected wound post surgery."

^ Oh don't get me wrong, I agree with you. Without modern medicine I'd die at birth. Without modern medicine I'd..., I'm gonna quote my doctor here: "Thirty years ago you'd lose both of your arms." Present times, you wouldn't even know I've been operated on, if there weren't scar tissue.

That was the whole point of my original post. We take cures of minor illnesses for granted.
Yoda would probably say something like this:
"cough leads to common cold, cold leads to influenza, influenza leads to pneumonia. I sense much germs in you." Razz

Alright, Cantina people...I have a question concerning protocol. Something C-3PO would know.

I've been invited to a Christmas party where one is somewhat encouraged to bring a guest. I don't have a boyfriend or date of any kind to bring. And I really have no friends, male or female, close enough that I would feel comfortable asking. I assume you're not supposed to bring family. What does one do? Confused

^ I don't see a problem with bringing a family member. I don't know the exact situation but assuming you can not I never think its odd to see someone alone party or not.

Family's never a bad decision Mara. And honestly if you don't bring anyone that's fine to, the option to bring a guest is simply a suggestion. Going alone isn't really that strange.

Family works (though I should think of something in a sister or cousin instead of parent), and alone works well too.

If you're really uncomfortable, I offer this piece of advice that works for almost any situation (and my apologies if it sounds patronizing; it's meant to be funny):

Use your words.

Ask the person who's organizing it. "I'm single and don't feel comfortable asking any specific friends. Should/could/may I bring my sister? Or when you say 'guests' do you really only mean 'spouse' or 'date'?"

But that's only if you're not comfortable with just bringing family outright. They said guest; you can bring whomever you want.

Toilet paper in any other place except the bathroom looks extremely akward and weird. Laughing

^Lack of toilet paper in bathroom or any other place is equally akward. Laughing

What about in the supply closet, where you might keep the rolls before bringing them to the bathroom? Smile

I read Dave Barry's 2012 Gift Guide in the sunday paper and it was pretty funny. In some cases I'm not sure what was funnier: his commentary on the item or the fact that the item exists http://www.chicagotribune.com/features/life/sc-fam-1125-dave-barry-20121125,0,6469540.story
