Gripe of the Day

I had to drive an hour to the state police station today to get a background check. Apparently, state law requires it if you're going to work with very young children, which is fine, but I sincerely wish that I could have done it at a local station.

Guys, it's official. My laptop hates Thor.
I really don't know what his problem is but it just has to stop since I haven't been able to watch my dvd ever since I bought it (our dvd player was stolen a month ago so that's not really a solution).
Whenever I try to play Thor with VLCMediaPlayer it crashes, I put in another dvd, it's fine again!
I tried it with Windows Media Player but I first had to install a dvd decoder which took me a bit of time since I was searching for a free download.
When that was finally done I was like "YES!!!" and inserted my dvd. Everything went fine, it read it perfectly and the titels and chapters showed up, everything nice and smooth.
That was when I pressed the play button.
There was a flash of color and then there was nothing. I clicked on the second titel but there was also just a flash of color and then nothing. The titel then turned orange like it usually happens when Windows can't play a song or file.
Now, the fact that he does it with Thor isn't what ticks me off, it's the fact that he doesn't do it with any other dvd! Captain America and Iron Man? Accepted and played them without any hussle, but apperantly being the God of Thunder is enough to even tick a computer off! Evil or Very Mad

Is it possible that the DVD is just scratched? Perhaps in such a way that is small and not particularly noticeable to the naked eye?

I've had problems with various DVDs on my laptop, but it's usually because they're scratched up (often due to terrible packaging from the manufacturer that makes you slide the disc over a piece of plastic to take it out).

Try it on another machine?

My Gripe:

It's soooo cold!

This is amplified by the fact that I just got home (to Canada) from a Caribbean Cruise.

I only wish it was that simple! The dvd player played it pretty well, my sister and my dad's computer accepted it...it's just my laptop that won't play it! It won't even play the rented one from the video store! What is his problem! Sad

Last night was pretty good. I finally managed, through logical reasoning, to convince my sister that ghosts aren't real.

Yesterday, after a very stressful day at school, I walked into work to have my boss snap nastily at me for absolutely for no reason. I wasn't even on the clock yet. *sigh*
