None of the above. I'm surprisingly apathetic about all this.

I made this one for ALL the new films. So as in the future even MORE THREADS won't pop up.

Some more encouraging news.

Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg will write and produce Episode VIII and/or IX. Kinberg contributed to scripts for Mr. and Mrs. Smith, X-Men: The Last Stand, Jumper, Sherlock Holmes, and X-Men: First Class. I've seen all of these movies except for Mr. and Mrs. Smith and, honestly, I didn't much care for any of them. The exciting news is Kasdan. He wrote the script for, among other movies, The Empire Strikes Back (!) and Return of the Jedi.

I certainly find them more favorable than Michael Arndt.

This actually has not been confirmed yet by LFL/Disney.

Eh, Michael Arndt is better than Kinburg, but I have high hopes if Kasdan is on board. But like Cerrinea said, it hasn't bee confirmed yet.

Not too groundbreaking or surprising, but pretty cool:

Drew Struzan, the poster artist for all six current Star Wars films has reportedly been signed by Disney to do the posters for the Sequel Trilogy: Link

Last night on The Star Wars Report we were discussing if JJ should do ALL 3 Sequel Trilogy Films.

My thought on that was he couldn't even commit to ALL the new Trek films- so they would have to sign him for all 3 at once IMO to secure that scenario.

I'm still crossing my fingers for Whedon on VIII & IX.

Hopefully they can get three different directors for all three films. That seemed like a good formula for the OT.

Yes, but if there are different directors, wouldn't that make for three completely differently styled movies? Truthfully, I don't see us needing 3 MORE styles for the universe. But if I had a choice in who directed, I would definitely go with Spielberg.

Episode VII is the daunting job. Depending on how the reception for Episode VII is, some of the directors who turned down Episode VII might agree to direct one of the next two. There's significantly less pressure for those two. Then again directing a Star Wars film is never an endeavour to be taken lightly.

Here's an interesting article by a guy making a case for why the ST WILL respect the EU:

http://www.johnvhansen.com/jvh/blog/index.cfm/2012/11/4/Evidence-suggests-Star-Wars-sequel-trilogy-will-respect-not-ignore-the-Expanded-Universe

*No EU stories have been planned for after 45ABY... because that is when the ST will take place?

*There is no real point in stomping on the EU and it will piss off fans. SW EU is not an unsuccessful franchise that needs rescuing from dying off, it's a NY times bestselling series that is still currently running.

*The ages of the Big Three actors are the same ages as their characters in current EU timeline. It would be unnecessary to include them and use effects to make them younger.

* Circa 40 years ABY gives enough time to have passed for there to be a Galaxy threatening crisis suitable for a big screen movie that doesn't diminish the accomplishment of Luke and the Rebellion at the end of ROTJ.
