MN as a movie could only be done as a prequel after all the other films were made

Why do you say that?

I just think studios don't want to do a movie series in non sequential order. I'm not entirely sure why that is, but that seems to be the trend. One of the problems is casting. They want to line up actors to follow through on a commitment to future projects, and they would have to have an almost all new cast for that one.

As it stands they almost certainly will need to recast any future Narnia movies, so maybe it's not that sure of a thing.

Actually, Walden Media (the studio that made the first three films) wanted to make The Magician's Nephew next. The reason was that MN is a prequel to LWW (which made by far the most at the box office) and Walden was hoping to capitalize on the success of LWW. MN is also one of the best-selling Narnia books.

I for one am glad/relieved the next movie will be SC. It isn't even so much that SC comes after VDT in publication order (and chronological order for that matter), but making MN next seems like a last ditch effort to milk the series rather than a serious attempt to continue with the series. Just the fact that the Mark Gordon Company is deciding to make SC next gives me a little more faith in the next film.

Sounds right. IMO it would have been a bad idea. Sure LWW was a draw, but what does MN bring in? Interest in Narnia, maybe...but where do you go from there? The resolution of MN is LWW. To go from MN to further Narnia stories, and the ones that have nothing to do with the central story of LWW, doesn't make any sense from a movie standpoint. The next movies would surely bomb even harder than the last two because they completely went away from expectations as set up by MN. Or if you end the series there and don't make any more, it's almost even worse for a complete lack of resolution and MN builds towards nothing at all.

I guess that might give a better idea about why I said it could only work as an after series prequel or a start for a reboot.

^ Yeah, exactly. After VDT I'm glad to see Walden go, personally.

Really. I just looked up Walden Media and they are a company that formed just to make movies of books. They were a studio with no experience in making films and sorry to say but it shows. The only good movies of theirs are the ones that Disney coproduced and it should be noted that VDT, unlike the previous ones, wasn't one of them.

^ Yeah, I agree. "Dawn Treader" felt very much like a typical Walden movie, whereas I thought the first two were more sophisticated. I did like Bridge to Terabithia though. Walden is actually going through restructuring (i.e. down-sizing) right now. I'm guessing losing the rights to Narnia, their star player, had to do with it.

Here's a funny online comic for Narnia fans (it's a two parter).

Part Two: http://axecop.com/comic/ask-axe-cop-70/

Sounds like The Lion Awakes is still happening. It's been renamed Jack and Tollers. Here's a video about the executive producer asking for your money Wink :

I actually might support it, since Tolkien and (especially) Lewis mean so much to me, if I didn't have to pay for school etc.

Sorry, but I don't like the new title. Even though it's derived from their nicknames it sounds too cheesy. I liked "The Lion Awakes" better.
