7. Pokemon? Is anyone but me still into this?
8. Classic literature (super difficult and could get controversial)

The trick is getting something that a core group of us is at least familiar with.

For the ones you've mentioned:

1. I've read the first four books and watched the first four movies. I enjoyed them, but wouldn't call myself a fan.
2. I've played Zelda occasionally, but know next to nothing about the universe.
3. Same as above.
4. Great idea! I could easily see us doing this one. I think most of us have at least read/watched LOTR.
5. I've never read the books or watched the show (it's on my to-do list).
6. I'm only really familiar with the Nolan films, but I have a very basic knowledge of the general universe.
7. I never got into Pokemon. We could do whichever one looks cooler though.
8. That would be awesome! I'm not sure how many here are into classic lit though. And even for a fan like me, there's sooo much I haven't covered yet. So many books, so little time.

We could also do Expanded Universe novels. Or Avatar: The Last Airbender. Or Narnia. Wink

Actually Expanded Universe novels could be good. Heck we could separate it by era.

What about a Superhero elimination thread? Superheroes are pretty popular.

^ Yeah, that could work.

EDIT: IGN.com has a list of the Top 100 Comic Book Heroes. We could base it on that. Cool

What if we did EU-only "things", and had a collection of characters, etc. from the books, comics and games?

I'm a little bitter that after two years, I missed the final round. *throws tantrum* Wink

I'm all for playing with another franchise!

I'm quite aware of my level of awesomeness Razz . I'm sad now. This was so much fun!

Hell there are lots that are not universally appealing but still fairly good.

2. Zelda

There are probably tons more but those jumped to mind.

1. I could dig it.
2. Never played Zelda (except very briefly over ten years ago)
3. Yes please. Though I don't think everyone else would know much about it.
4. Probably the best choice.
5. May contain nuts. And possibly spoilers for those only watching the TV series/not finished the books.
6. Nice idea, may not be workable.
7. I think we're alone in our liking of this. Pika-five?
8. May be too difficult to work.

I would also be up for Lord of the Rings. That could be fun (wouldn't need to be a 100, though).

Right now the best ideas seem to be:

1. LOTR
2. Superheroes
3. EU novels
4. Harry Potter

Superheroes or EU novels would be the easiest, because there is a list of 100 superheroes provided by IGN and there is a fixed amount of EU novels. We'd have to brainstorm for Potter or LOTR.

Sporcle has a quiz for top 200 Harry Potter characters by number of mentions in the books - we could use the top 100 of those.

http://www.sporcle.com/games/GeoGod/allharrypotter

EDIT: Or some other combination of characters - some of the top 100 mentions are really only mentioned, not really characters.

I would vote EU characters for now simply because its still SW and it would keep in the theme of the site.
