There's a family in my state that could use prayers this Christmas as they try to cope with the loss of a son, husband, and father-to-be on Friday.

Marcus Kauffman was shot in the head on December 2 after interrupting a robbery at his home. He was in ICU for nearly three weeks, but after tests done Thursday showed no brain activity, he was removed from life support and died at 12:52 PM yesterday. His widow is 7 months pregnant with their child.

Four men were arrested in connection with the case. Two are now charged with first degree murder and the other two are charged with accessory after the fact to first degree murder.

Apologies for the double post, but now I'm asking for prayers for my family. Dad's brother was rushed to the ER yesterday afternoon. He was finally admitted to a room late last night, but he's in ICU with a serious infection of some kind.

Needless to say, since he's in ICU, his chances of being home by Tuesday to celebrate Christmas with us on Wednesday are probably nil, which means our plans for lunch are likely up in the air at this point. There's no telling what we're going to do.

I'm sorry to hear that, Alan. Sad

I hope your uncle has a fast recovery.

It'll hit. Pray that isn't literal.

My advice is don't think of it as a fixed answer. Explore your passions. See what you love. If it's not for you, you are welcome to change your mind and do something different.

My college dropped my course. We paid, so I have why this happened. This means graduating is pushed back yet another semester.

I'm almost done with school, Reep, and some days I still don't know if I made the right choices.

I just found out a friend of mine is leaving for North Dakota for two months. It's not a gripe, I'm just very sad. I don't do well when people leave. Especially not so suddenly. Sad

Just FYI...Cadeus...this is in not related to your post about your job -- totally different senario here.

I'm really kind of disturbed about how the word "hate" is used.

My example...from the Facebook page of Star Wars Books...in regards to the "new" covers for the Han & Lando trilogies...it's the second to last response (my reply is last) that has me a little disturbed.

Bianca Oh come on...Vuffi was classic!

Star Wars Books Bianca, you have to admit, the previous HSA cover was pretty dated.

Steve Yeah, Star Wars Books, the cover for "that" book is blah, but the covers of the original books weren't...which I still have.

Bianca Didn't matter to me. I have that book and it looks fine on the shelf.

Blake Yeah I'm on the side of Star Wars here, not Bianca. The old covers suck badly lol. I like the newer ones.

Bianca No worries. If you can afford to buy new versions -- more power to you. I can't.

Dan Wow, Ryan, you're really advocating Piracy on a VERIFIED page?
Like · 1 · 10 hrs

Geo Ryan's comment has been rated Arrrgh! for Piracy... (sorry) Is pirating books even an offense? It's not like very many people these days like to (or in fact are able to) read anything longer than aTweet, text message, or at best a Facebook status. We're all doomed...... doomed..... we're doomed... doomed...

Geo (And yes I know it's illegal, before the Know-It-All Squad launch their full frontal assault and do everything in their power to ruin a perfectly crappy joke.)

Nicholas If you already have it and don't need it then don't complain about it. Nobody's forcing you to rebuy the books. I don't have these and I like the covers, so yes, I will be buying them. They are being re-released for people like me not people like you. God I hate other Star Wars fans sometimes.
Like · 1 · 47 mins

Bianca I never said the new covered book shouldn't be bought. I just think, my opinion, that it's a waste of resources to reprint just for a cover change. Sorry if that makes you "hate" me.

Are a lot of people like this? Do people just "hate" so easily because others, i.e. me, express opinions that are not in concert with their own?

It makes me sad.

I would be rather off put by the comment as well. But it's the internet. For every act of social good social media has done, it's done at least one social bad. I'd just say avoid stuff like that. It's like reading comments on YouTube. People don't even believe half the crap they post. They just enjoy starting an argument.

I know...reading comments is usually bad...but some times, there are comedy gems hidden within.

**sigh**

I'm in my early 40's...you'd think I would know better by now. Guess I'm just a bit too optimistic about people.
