People really do tend to be more rude on the internet. It's a bad trend.

People seem to forget that they are talking to other human beings when they are on the internet.

I can't focus on my final. I have been sitting here for an hour, and my mind just keeps wandering away to dream up random what if scenarios. Random scenarios that I get so caught up in imagining that I seriously depress or upset myself. Scenarios that have never actually happened!

*sigh*

Go to bed, emotions. You're tired.

I do that to myself sometimes. It's awful! Best solution I've found is taking a break for some super fun and inspirational music. Really, sleep is the best thing, but if you gotta work, it's the mood shifter that you need. Which is really hard to find.

Also avoid films that are in anyway shape or form serious. Made the mistake during a period of high stress once of watching The Pacific miniseries, Blackhawk Down, and We were Soldiers over several nights (half hour here, hour there sort of thing) without a comedy movie break in between.

Lesson learned: never do that again unless you really, really, REALLY don't want to optimistic about anything for a few days.

Personally I find "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" from Monty Python's Life of Brian a good theme song for periods of high stress.

Also, watch this youtube video over and over. It's strangely motivational.

I did that to myself last weekend. Traveled for work and ended up, by random happenstance, in the same city my father was traveling for work in. I went to a memorial service for deceased Fire Chiefs (my father is the Fire Chief where he lives). It's a moving ceremony, very traditional, very solemn. An Honour Guard lays a ceremonial golden fire helmet for Fire Chiefs who have died (of various natural causes, often well after retirement).

It was random that I was there at all, and I was all "Oh, this'll probably be the last time I'll be at one of these."

And then I was all "Nope, there will be one more. Hopefully in 30-40 years, but one of these golden helmets will be for my dad one day." And then I got sad.

My external hard drive died yesterday. I don't care about most of the stuff on it, but I lost a lot of photos.

No, you didn't! I can save them for you. I promise you 98% that I can recover all your data, or tell you how to do it yourself. True story, don't throw it away...!

A complicated issue has arisen and I don't know how to move forward or whether to move forward at all. Confused

Without knowing more I cannot offer advice, but I will merely tell you to meditate on it and consider all options before acting.

^ I have meditated on it and I've decided that it's one of those issues that I need to act on or it will haunt me later. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I just hope it doesn't blow up in my face.
