Gah! I just finished reading this and it was amazing! I'm dying to talk to somebody about it, but my husband wants to read it and is strictly no-spoilers (or even Easter eggs), so here goes my first impression:

MAJOR spoilers in the tag. You've been warned.

You should all go read it! Laughing

EDIT: And I just realized that it's been exactly one year to the day since my last post. And my last post was talking about my feelings if Thrawn were moved into the new canon. Seems fitting. Wink

This is why you should buy it for my birthday. Cool

I really enjoyed it too. Zahn had a lot of fun with it, and each of the chapters begins with a journal entry by Thrawn which dives into his thinking. Plus there are a lot of moments throughout the book were Thrawn is observing people and picking up on things.

On the subject of Thrawn...I've never thought of him as a villain. He's a military commander who acknowledges the bad things of the government he works for but also support certain policies. He's brilliant and interesting.

I do like what the novel did with him, but because it really was Thrawn being Thrawn.

I just finished Thrawn last night. I loved it! It was wonderful returning to Star Wars reading after so long, and with such a great character to boot.
