The Falcon is still waiting on the custom stand to arrive from Denmark. So I've moved on to another set I got for Christmas, which arrived belatedly as it was also out of stock. The Apollo Saturn V rocket, which I am in love with! Very Happy

Oooh. Cool

How many pieces is that?

It's 1,969 pieces. Which is totally awesome, since Apollo 11 landed on the moon in 1969. Coincidence? I think not!

Here's another picture with the completed lunar lander and command module:

The pieces for the Millennium Falcon stand arrived today, and I just finished building it. Tomorrow, the Falcon! Huzzah!

The Millennium Falcon build has finally begun! You'll have to forgive the following barrage of pictures, but I decided to document the unboxing. Smile

I will put them in spoiler tags. Unboxing:

And the first bag, which is the only one I've completed out of 17. It took me three hours. This is going to take awhile. Confused

It's starting to take a vague, Millennium Falcon-esque shape!

I'm being taken back in time to how much fun I had with Legos as a kid. I still have a few pieces lying around (specifically about 25 pieces that can be reorganized into all of the ships named Enterprise, and a handful of Star Destroyers I made out of wing pieces).

As a kid, I was particularly proud of a massive RMS Titanic (which included the correct number of lifeboats and other details, and had a split-point where the ship cracked during sinking; it wasn't exactly to scale but it was close), many dinosaurs in a Jurassic Park setting (another proud moment, using white-with-silver-accents knitting yarn as electric fences), and countless ships from Star Trek and Star Wars. I was playing with my nephew some time ago and saw an ARC-170 starfighter that I hadn't disassembled, but just threw into the bin (which, if the maths work out, I was 19 or 20 when I made lol).

We gave my nephew one of these free-build buckets for Christmas and he loved it. I'll sometimes build with him and it's tons of fun.

Bags 10, 11, 12 and 13. It's a little slow going. But only four more bags!

What a crazy journey! All in all it took about a month to complete. Granted, I was only able to commit an hour or two every couple nights. I would say around 30 hours total.

Tomorrow we'll hopefully attach it to the stand. I'll add some pictures once complete. Very Happy

Your hand for scale absolutely put this over the edge. I was fawning over the set, thinking about how gorgeous and detailed it was. And then seeing how big it was relative to your hand...my God that's amazing.

I want one. I can't have one, but I want one.

That thing is absolutely gorgeous! Well done, and sounds like the build took long enough for it to be a pretty fun project overall Smile
