Since 2005, people have wanted a sequel to RC. Discuss, speculate, etc. for RC 2 within this thread.

I loved RC. Campaign structure was fine for me, I only hope they take their time on the multiplayer aspect. Multiplayer in RC wasnt bad, but it wasnt great either. It was just kind of bland.

According to Rogue Leaders: The Story of Lucasarts, a sequel to the game, entitled Imperial Commando, was ready to begin. The team was going to be fired after, if they did the game or not, and they decided not to. (Remember, Lucasarts had huge layoffs in '05). But then, it's said that sales didn't warrant the sequel anyway....

I absolutely loved the RC game for so many reasons. The campaign was gritty, dark, something we normally don't get to see much in the SW universe. The Squad Mechanics were absolutely brilliant and, while they may be overshadowed by more modern games, they were still very good for their time.

The Multiplayer felt tacked on and unbalanced but more development time could easily fix such problems.

And while the sales may not hvae warranted a sequel, I"d bet lackluster sales were more a result of the "Star Wars" name as opposed to a true dislike of the game. I think most people wouldn't believe "Star Wars" and "Tactical fist person shooter" belong in the same sentence. Rolling Eyes

Indeed. I think they proved them wrong though. With the sales of TFU as good as they are, and Lucasarts not developing anything, perhaps they will now tackle RC 2. I'd rather have them simply publish it and another company develop, but if they can make it as fun and enhance the story I'll play it in a heartbeat.

Imperial Commando? Oh sweet. I would love an original trilogy based shooter. The closest we got was jedi knight series, and those were great. However, add in the RC game mechanics, and that would be a sweet game.

Definitely. RC did a lot to personalize Clone troopers and I see no reason it couldn't do the same for Stormtroopers. Very Happy

It'd be another opportunity for a great game and a great story as well.

It would certainly be interesting because with the Empire engaging in activities that might have questionable morality they could make it have more shades of grey in ways that wasn't addressed in the RC game (but was maybe touched on here and there in the novels).

Indeed; people think stuff like that can't be touched in games-- it can be.

Definitely. I think TFU is a great example of looking at some of the darker sides of the Empire (or a darker theme).

That being said, if they could make RC2 (or IC?) with an open-ended story (can choose what to do and not to do), it could end up making for a brilliant game. Putting that sort of choice into the player's hands (think KotOR), can have huge benefits.

On the other hand, it's also very easy to overreach in trying to achieve that goal which could lead to a sub-standard games. Definitely worth a shot though....I'd love to see LucasArts take a shot at it.
