I think the displays of the power of the Dark just showed how powerful certain powers of the dark side are. There are still equally powerful aspects of the light side of the Force. In fact they keep hinting about these greater power on both sides, it's just not often we get to see them.

I think it depends on who uses it and how. For example, if Luke used "darksight," would it be like Cronal using it? It's very interesting to think about Jedi using dark side powers and vice versa -- Heck, even Bastila Shan used Battle Mediation for her limited time as a Sith; was it stronger than?

What this book did well was to A.) explain Luke's change from whiny to mature and B.) Introduce post-ROTJ stuff in a single novel, not a long series (which are always good but confusing for newer people, no doubt.)

Actually you're probably right about the Dark being the same (or at least an aspect), because one of the Jedi's main goals is to preserve life, the opposite of Cronal. Interesting. I wonder if we'll ever get confirmation...

I'm almost finished with this book, though not quite. Wanted to mention, besides the fact that it's great, that I was very interested/happy to see a recurring line from RotS. It's my favorite line ever from a book (Star Wars and non), and I was glad to see it appear again. The line would be, "All things die, Anakin Skywalker. Even stars burn out." The line in Mindor was, "Everything dies. Even stars burn out." And there was even one more reference that wasn't quite as close, though I can't remember for positive now what it was.

Anyway, just wanted to mention that. Smile

Who else got a little chill when Luke said (about Aeona), "She's too (I forget the word) and I never liked redheads." ?

S'ok. I'm slow...and I suppose it's my fault for reading the thread anyway. Thanks for thinking about it, though. But just give me another day or so and I promise I'll be finished! Very Happy

Whoo-hoo! Finished it last night. Awesome book! Can't say it's my favorite, simply because that sacred spot is reserved forever and always for The Courtship of Princess Leia. Probably that's mainly because it was the first Star Wars book I read, and because it has so much excellent Han and Leia in it. But anyway.

This book was amazing. Definitely ranks with the best. Here's another line that I just love: "Because unlike the Knights of old, Jedi Luke Skywalker...You are not afraid of the dark." *shudders* It gives me chills.

And another line that of course cracked me up was the bit about redheads. He also said, "Too abrasive." Very Happy

Abrasive that's what it was. Sorry for spoiling it for you.

Yes, after going through the book a second time, that line is my favorite too. "Because unlike the Knights of old, Jedi Luke Skywalker...You are not afraid of the dark." Completely shows that Luke is the greatest Jedi ever.
