Well I would love to preorder it, but I'm trying to decide if I should spend my last few pennies on it. *ponders* I still have a few days to decide, so will see.

I have a confession........I hated Mara when I first read the Thrawn trilogy. *hangs head in shame* I'm sorry! Don't worry, I quickly came to see the error of that kind of thinking. Mara's definitely one of my favorite EU characters. Right up there with Anakin Solo. *sigh* Rest in peace, guys........ Sad *wanders off, sobs into a pillow* Oh, and it looks like I may have to wait to read Abyss until my library gets it. Woe is me.

Laughing Well Bantam Mara is no match for Del Rey Mara, so you shouldn't feel too bad.

Thanks, I feel slightly less guilty. Smile

Most of the Bantam stuff was lousy. (I'd use another word, but I don't want to have the Mods show up & go all Sith on me. Laughing ) The only exceptions were the Zahn books in my opinion. Everything else was just... bleh.

Mara is on the back cover, and if I remember correctly, she makes an appearance as a Force Ghost. Or perhaps there's a flashback? I don't know, but regardless, Mara will be in the novel. Can't wait! Smile

I agree. I don't really care too much how she's back. I'm just thrilled Mara's back in the EU! I can't wait for Zahn's next "Allegiance" novel (I know that's not the title, but that's the only way I know to describe it...).

Mara Jade Rules!!!!!! Very Happy

Excuse me for this EUCast promoting, but I just wanted to invite everyone to email us their thoughts on Mara Jade Skywalker for this weeks EUCast. There are a ton of great thoughts in this thread, but we'd love to hear some of them on the show.

Smile

I'll be sure to email all my thoughts on the matter between now and then, since I won't be able to be here for the show. Can you give us any prompting on what you might, specifically, be discussing?

I think a good part of the topic will be the introduction of the character, and having Luke get married to her. Also, if she should have died. Those will be two main points.

Should she have died? She is mortal isn't she? Of course she should die! lol But as to how the authors decided to do it, very, very poor execution. I still find it troubling that Jacen would fall so quickly after all the revelations he had in NJO, but either the Unifying Force view really is that dark (which I find very offensive) or some didn't have the time to read Traitor for themselves. Of course, these aren't the only choices, but these ones I find disturbing if either was reality.

However, back to Mara, tragic way to go but all mortals meet this fate eventually.

Of course, that's what I meant, Aush. Do you agree with the time, place, and way that she died. Wink

Mara was one of the characters I liked. I would have rather had the authors kill Jaina. Of course, that would have been a completely different story.
