Same here. Thought I read it was still tainted in the NJO. Haven't ever read that something changed.

Well according to Wookieepedia, Lord Nyax tainted it with his death and Luke made some comment that eventually his dark side presence in the nexus would fade away. So maybe during the assault on the temple, it was still tainted and thus no help to the Jedi fighting the Sith. In fact it might actually have helped the Sith. I bet Abeloth was feeding off if it.

Hmm, is that where the whole volcano thing came from? Wookieepedia says the Temple was built on a natural mountain which had the nexus.
