Anyone wonder if those three stormtroopers are the very same ones on the other cover? Because, if they are, she may wish to contact Palpatine on getting the next clone template to have less stalkerish tendencies.

It's been so long since I've read Allegiance that I can't really remember the plot. Yet I don't recall the book being good enough to warrant a reread. Did Mara actually work with the stormtroopers in Allegiance? Might have wander over to wookieepedia and read the summary...

They team up in the book to bring down the bad guy.

Okay, I get that there's a floating head, and there's a mysterious arm that may or may not be Mara's, but I have to say I quite like how it was painted. I say painted because that's what it looks like to me. Not so much from a game, but literally something someone has painted with oil based paints. Look up Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe series and the older ones have actual paintings on the cover. It kind of reminded me of that.

Oil Based paints! Yes that's it! I knew it looked like something!

I still think the image has potential Wink

Random House has now released the blurb for Choices of One, giving us our first "official" look at the novel. http://www.eucantina.net/archives/10326

What do you think? Does this new blurb increase or decrease your interest in the novel? And what is your speculation for this "wild card"?

I wonder if the Hand of Judgement is working with Mara Jade, which the blurb seems to suggest, or if they're doing some vigilante justice. I'm pretty psyched about this, I think I was one of the few people that liked Allegiance. And with a "treacherous game of betrayals within betrayals," I'm hoping for some byzantine maneuvering ŗ la Specter of the Past and Vision of the Future.

I can't find any information about the Candoras sector. Wookieepedia doesn't have an entry for it, and I cannot locate it in either the Outer Rim or Mid Rim maps in the Essential Atlas Online Companion. I'd be inclined to believe that the "wild card" is either Karrde or Thrawn. Zahn has mentioned writing about Thrawn recruiting the Hand of Judgement, but of course "wild card" suggests Karrde. I suspect juggling Karrde, Jade, and the Big 3 without any of them meeting each other would be pretty difficult, whereas I can easily believe that Mara Jade could meet Thrawn.

I wish the book was set later in the timeline. More Lando can't hurt, especially if Karrde is in it. I like seeing the underworld characters interact.

My expectations haven't changed since reading the blurb so I still can't wait! Smile

The cover for Timothy Zahnís next Star Wars novel, Choices of One, has received some slight adjustments. Color changes have been made to the text and Mara Jade's lightsaber, and her hair has been lengthened. The stormtroopers on the right have been repositioned in order to be more visible. Other changes include different background elements, tweaks to Mara's face, and a small movement of her hand.

You can view the two versions of the covers here: http://www.eucantina.net/archives/10363

I like it. Trying to read Mara's face, determine what she's thinking. And I like the stormtroopers. Now they don't look like a group of back up singers, popping out behind her, giving backing vocals to 'Goodbye, My Coney Island Baby'.

Ya I still hate that cover. IT looks cheaply photoshopped together...

I just can't get over the fact that they should have completely scrapped that image of Mara and started over. I'm not sure if it's the proportions or the waythe body is positioned but it just doesn't look realistic or natural to me. The more I see this cover the more I dislike it. I will say that I think the changes are an improvement but it is lipstick on a pig. (note: not calling Mara a pig, leave the pitchforks and torches on the wall)
